What Is Joy? Who Is Christ? What Is Joy in Christ?

What Is Joy? Who Is Christ? What Is Joy in Christ?

How would you answer these questions? Here are my ponderings.

What is joy?
Joy is an essential spice in life. Without joie de vivre life would be boring. Joy is the spark in the eye, the belly-laugh, the worriless well-being. Joy is contentment through hardships, hope when there is no visible reason for it.

Who is Christ?
Christ is the risen son of God who wants to re-connect us with our Creator and has made it possible through dying on the cross and rising from the death. Christ is God who became a human being to restore the connection between humankind and God Almighty. Christ will show us the path of life. Christ will show us the way home to God.

What is joy in Christ?
Joy in Christ is ever-lasting, sustaining, redeeming love in action in our lives. When one has been made right with God through believing that Christ really did die on the cross for our sins and has begged forgiveness and received amazing grace one is a new joyful creation. It is quite a joyful exchange like Luther called it. By giving your baggage to Christ you receive joy, freedom and ultimate peace.

What is joy of living in Christ?
It is living out this love, hope and joy! Joyful living is rooted on resurrected Christ. Experiencing joy of living in Christ comes from living and breathing in God’s presence. When our lives are centered on God we have found pure joy. In God’s presence there really is fullness of joy. God is the ultimate source of joy and life itself. There is nothing better, in my opinion, than being connected with God. *Happy dance*

You show me the path of life. In your presence there is fullness of joy; in your right hand are pleasures forevermore. (Ps. 16:11)

Gracious God,
Thank you for showing us the path of life.
Thank you for becoming our path of life.
Help us always to live in your presence.
Show us the fullness of joy.
In Jesus’s name we pray,
Amen

  1. I love this post, Mari-Anna. (They all rock, as well!)

Your awesome words describe exactly how it is that picking up one's cross is actually an act of releasing one's burdens. Another paradox of a wild God!

Thanks so much for sharing yourself with us!!

    Love you!! Squish!!!
