Not My Ability But God’s!

Not My Ability But God’s!

Have you ever wondered what’s God’s particular calling for you? Of course, you have. Once we have learned to know God and his love for us we naturally want to response to his calling to share his love with others. We start praying for clear wisdom to see what God has intended us to do. Just too often we think too little of ourselves or God. Have you done that?

We think that we are not capable of doing great things and we sit out. But like Corrie ten Boom has said “It is not my ability, but my response to God’s ability, that counts.” It really is not about my abilities but about my response to God and his amazing capabilities and astonishing abilities. So it is even more important to pray “Thy will be done, not mine” and see how my focus gets changed from myself to God Almighty. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Phil.4:13) really is empowering message.

My all-time favorite Martin Luther quote says: “Don’t pray for a calling that equals your strength, but pray for strength that equals your calling.” It has reminded me to let God’s dreams to become mine. It has reminded me that my point of view is small but God sees everything over time and space. It has reminded me to keep on keeping on even when I don’t see beyond struggles.

God really is faithful. “For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”, says the Lord. (Jeremiah 29:11). God is calling you to do amazing things for his kingdom. Don’t sit out but response with willingness, eagerness and curiosity. Pray for wisdom to recognize God’s calling and strength that equals that calling.

Dear God,
Thank you for being sovereign
Thank you for being bigger and better than we can imagine.
Thank you for exceeding our expectations time after time.
Grant us wisdom to recognize your calling.
Grant us grace to follow you.
Grant us strength than equals your calling.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen
