a VIP in God’s Eyes

Sometimes we think that our life is so small or simple that it is not significant. Maybe not if seen through the eyes of the world. But God thinks you are a Very Important Person. God created you, gave his only Son to die for you and through the resurrection of Jesus Christ made it possible for you to be made right with him. God waits to hear from you and rejoices when you bring your joys, sorrows, concerns, dreams and hopes to him. Despite all of this amazing love and care, why do we back off from the intimacy God offers to us?

One of the reasons is that we think we should not bother God with small stuff. That God would not be interested in our everyday happenings. What do you think? Can we bother God with small issues? I think we  should bring everything to God. I don’t mean that we need to pray how many gallons/litres of milk we should buy each time we’re shopping. But if we don’t have a habit of bringing small things to God, we might not remember where to turn when we are in dire need of God. So, don’t worry about how small things you’re bringing to God. God delights in hearing from you. Also, more time we spend in the presence of God, more we start sensing God’s graceful guidance in our lives and more Christ-like we are made.

Jesus himself guides us to approach our Heavenly Father this way (Matthew 6:6-13, MSG):

“Here’s what I want you to do: Find a quiet, secluded place so you won’t be tempted to role-play before God. Just be there as simply and honestly as you can manage. The focus will shift from you to God, and you will begin to sense his grace. “The world is full of so-called prayer warriors who are prayer-ignorant. They’re full of formulas and programs and advice, peddling techniques for getting what you want from God. Don’t fall for that nonsense. This is your Father you are dealing with, and he knows better than you what you need. With a God like this loving you, you can pray very simply. Like this:

Our Father in heaven,

Reveal who you are.

Set the world right;

Do what’s best— as above, so below.

Keep us alive with three square meals.

Keep us forgiven with you and forgiving others.

Keep us safe from ourselves and the Devil.

You’re in charge!

You can do anything you want!

You’re ablaze in beauty!

Yes. Yes. Yes.

Amen

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim. Bask in God’s love and enjoy being a VIP in God’s eyes!

What do you think about Matthew 6:7?

And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.

I agree that we need to talk to God too.

    Thanks

    Jeff

    Jeff,
I think that means that we need to be honest when we approach God. We are not supposed to try to impress God or others with big words and long sentences. God knows us inside and out without us saying anything. But we are welcome to talk to God honestly and openly as long as it takes us to pour out what's on our hearts and minds. It's not about wordcount. It's about our approach:Is it about us or is it about God?

Blessings to you, Jeff! Thanks for opening an interesting conversation!
