Looking for Joy, Peace and Harmony in Your Life?
November 2, 2010 Christian living

joy, peace, harmony
Most people want joy, peace and harmony in their lives. Too often people look for them at wrong places. Very often they get exactly the opposite what they were looking for. Because the only way to get joy, peace, and harmony in our lives is through Jesus. Why?

Because we have all messed up our lives so badly. We need Jesus in order to be set right (reconciled if you will) with God again. Once we open our hearts and minds to God and ask for forgiveness we will receive joy, peace and harmony in our lives. To live in harmony with God is the best thing in the world in my book.

Now that we are set right with God by means of this sacrificial death, the consummate blood sacrifice, there is no longer a question of being at odds with God in any way. If, when we were at our worst, we were put on friendly terms with God by the sacrificial death of his Son, now that we’re at our best, just think of how our lives will expand and deepen by means of his resurrection life! Now that we have actually received this amazing friendship with God, we are no longer content to simply say it in plodding prose. We sing and shout our praises to God through Jesus, the Messiah! (Romans 5: 9-11, MSG)

Friendship with God is quite amazing. But like any friendship it requires time spent together to flourish. God is not going anywhere but, unfortunately, we get too busy sometimes to spend time with the Giver of Life. How odd is that after all? Wouldn’t you think that would be our first priority?

The more we spend time in the presence of God,
the more peace, joy, and harmony we will feel in our lives.
Because we are meant to live in relationship with God.
Because God is the source of all the good things.
Because our natural state is to live in God’s grace.

This does not mean that when we have accepted God’s offer of salvation and been set right with God (been reconciled if you will) that we would not have any problems in our lives. This does not mean that we’d be bad Christians if our lives were not in perfect order. No. But this means that in the midst of those crazy things happening in our lives we can feel inner peace in Jesus. In the midst of sadness we can feel joy in Christ. In the midst of chaos we can feel harmony with God.

Because peace with God is so much more than anything else.
Because joy of salvation wins everything else hands down.
Because harmony with God (reconciliation if you will) is priceless.

You can’t buy it. You can’t bribe it. You can’t earn it. You can’t exchange it. You can’t borrow it. But you can accept God’s free offer of harmony through Jesus Christ. What do you choose? Harmony with God or Disharmony on your own?

Gracious God,
We thank you for offering
all of us harmony with God.
We accept it in Jesus’ name.
Draw us near to you,
strengthen our friendship.
So we could experience
joy, peace, and harmony
in our lives.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Q4U: What is your friends-with-God story? Has it affected your other friendships?

Be blessed, my friend, as you live your life as a friend of God Almighty. What a privilege & a blessing!
