Are You Buried Alive?

Are You Buried Alive?

Do you feel that you are buried alive? Do you feel that you’re facing a lot of dirt? Do you feel everything is dark around you? It is all right. Don’t be afraid. It might be that you’ve been (re)planted. A seed needs time to grow before it will see the light. The replanted one needs time to grow its roots deep in the new soil. It all happens in quiet invisibility but we might feel terrible growing pains. But it is all right. It is all part of the preparation process. Don’t be afraid. Don’t be discouraged. There will be light! There will be life!

Yes, my soul, find rest in God;
my hope comes from him.
Trust in him at all times, you people;
pour out your hearts to him,
for God is our refuge. (Psalm 62:5,8,NIV)

Don’t rush the process. Trust God to know what is good for you. If you feel that you’re buried alive rest in God’s grace. Snuggle in God’s arms and feel God’s love for you. Surrender to God’s comfort and healing care. Let God cradle you while you’re waiting to get through the dirt in your life. There will be light! There will be life!

“If you’ll hold on to me for dear life,” says God,
“I’ll get you out of any trouble.
I’ll give you the best of care
if you’ll only get to know and trust me.
Call me and I’ll answer, be at your side in bad times;
I’ll rescue you, then throw you a party.
I’ll give you a long life,
give you a long drink of salvation!”
(Psalm 91: 14-16, MSG)

While you are prepared to something new in your life do some fasting and feasting. That prepares you to the new time in your life whatever it may be. Even the season of preparation and waiting can be a hopeful experience. Even in the darkness we can rejoice in Christ Jesus. Because darkness is not the end of the story. There will be light! There will be life!

Here are some suggestions (that I found on Internet) how to add some good things on our lives by feasting and how to subtract some bad influences from our lives by fasting:

Fast from discontent; feast on thankfulness.
Fast from worry; feast on trust.
Fast from anger; feast on patience.
Fast from self-concern; feast on compassion for others.
Fast from unrelenting pressures; feast on unceasing prayers.
Fast from bitterness; feast on forgiveness.
Fast from discouragement, feast on hope.
Fast from media hype, feast on the honesty of the Bible.
Fast from idle gossip; feast on purposeful silence.
Fast from problems that overwhelm; feast on prayer that undergirds.

Gracious God,
Thank you for always being with us.
Empower us to wait on your timing.
Enable us to hope in the midst of darkness.
Thank you for being our Light & our Life!
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Q4U: What would you add to the list? What kind of fasting & feasting helps you to be prepared for the future light and life?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you are prepared for the future. Be patient with yourself, snuggle in God’s arms and enjoy this season in your life!
