Fear Not! God Has Not Forgotten You!

Fear Not! God Has Not Forgotten You!

Would you like to shut off the news? Are you afraid of what is happening in the world? Do you feel small and helpless when you think of wars, nuclear catastrophes, terrorism, economic situation, and the future? In the middle of turmoils we need to be reminded that God has not forgotten us! Fear not! God has good news for us:

‘You’re my servant, serving on my side.
I’ve picked you. I haven’t dropped you.’
Don’t panic. I’m with you.
There’s no need to fear for I’m your God.
I’ll give you strength. I’ll help you.
I’ll hold you steady, keep a firm grip on you.
(Isaiah 41: 9-10, MSG)

Just like the people of Israel living in exile felt like God had forgotten them we feel small and fearful. We are also surrounded by powers we can’t control. We are also surrounded by powers we can’t understand. We feel weak. We feel small. But we should not look at the world. We should look at God Almighty. We should not trust our feelings but God and the promises of God! He has never failed us and he never will.

“Do you feel like a lowly worm, Jacob?
Don’t be afraid.
Feel like a fragile insect, Israel?
I’ll help you.
I, God, want to reassure you.
The God who buys you back, The Holy of Israel.
I’m transforming you from worm to harrow,
from insect to iron.
As a sharp-toothed harrow you’ll smooth out the mountains,
turn those tough old hills into loamy soil.
You’ll open the rough ground to the weather,
to the blasts of sun and wind and rain.
But you’ll be confident and exuberant,
expansive in The Holy of Israel!
(Isaiah 41: 14-16, MSG)

God wants to assure that he has not forgotten us. God wants us to know that no matter what happens in the world he is with us. We are not to be afraid. God will help us. God knows us from inside out. He knows how we feel. He knows what is going on in the world. He knows what is going on in your life. He will never forsake us or leave us. He will be with us until the end of the world. He will be with us forever.

If God is with us who can be against us? We should not only feel secure and loved but exuberant! We should feel jubilant in the midst of everyday chaos! We should feel joyful in the midst of hardships! Because God is good, powerful and loving! Because God is amazing, faithful and kind! Because God is awesome, merciful and everlasting! Hallelujah!

So go forth today knowing that you are safe in God’s arms! Go forth today feeling jubilant because God is at your side! Go fort today celebrating God’s love for you!

Gracious God,
Thank you for being all-powerful God Almighty!
We give you our fears & feelings of inadequacy!
Give us your peace & your confidence!
We praise you & we love you!
In you we are exuberant, jubilant & confidant!
There’s nothing to be afraid when you’re with us!
Thank you so much for everything!
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Q4U: Do you feel like a worm? How do you get empowered to go on?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you claim your confidence in Jesus Christ! Be bold, be strong! God is with you wherever you go!

  1. I don’t feel like a worm, because I know God is my Father! But sometimes I get weary. I am empowered or strengthened by reading the Word, praying, &being still & listening to Him…

    1. Thank you, Jeannette, for your comment! I probably should have shared this within the post: If I have understood correctly the word “worm” is not only used descriptively here. In Hebrew it is also an affectionate term of endearment. So being a worm in God’s eyes is not that bad! 🙂 Blessings to you, sister! Stay blessed and empowered!

  2. Tremendous reminder!

Here’s another passage in Isaiah 8:11-14 (NLT)-
“The LORD has given me a strong warning not to think like everyone else does. He said, ‘Don’t call everything a conspiracy, like they do, and don’t live in dread of what frightens them. Make the LORD of Heaven’s Armies holy in your life. He is the one you should fear. He is the one who should make you tremble. He will keep you safe.'”

    1. Thank you, Angie for your feedback and for sharing the wonderful word of God! Abundant blessings to you!

  3. Just realized GOD is wth me bkoz I am applying HIS principles found in the bible&nt bkoz I am His child dwelling in sin, for this reason I know HE’s not against me&will nt let my feelings nor worldly events determine my happiness! Praise GOD

    1. Praise God indeed! Our joy is in Christ Jesus not in some earthly happenings. Thanks be to God! And thank you for sharing your thoughts with us! Be blessed!

  4. There are times when we all think that God has forgotten us and we wonder does He hear our prayers and needs? Of course this also makes our faith stronger in the end when we realize, yes, He does care and He answers us in His way. It is hard to keep that in mind though when trials come our way, it may be a sick child or it could be something major – like a bank foreclosing on the house.

Leslie Haskin’s has written a book for all of us who need reassurance that God is present and He is listening and wants to comfort us. Leslie Haskin escaped one of the towers at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001 and she knows what the lowest of lows can be like, today she is active in mission work. She has founded Safe HUGS which is a ministry that helps women and children.

“God Has Not Forgotten About You” is a book that can speak to the emotional, spiritual and physical parts of our beings that need God so much. There are words to savor in this book and it is a book that takes some time to read as the words are digested and weighed against God’s Word. Thankfully this book is Scripturally based, or at least I found it to be and that is what counts for me – there are not enough platitudes that anyone can write to comfort me unless it’s based on God’s Word.

**This book was provided to me by Bethany House Publishers for my honest review.
