How Deep the Father’s Love for Us

How Deep the Father’s Love for Us

Melodic Monday reflects on How Deep the Father’s Love (by Phillips, Craig, and Dean). What a powerful song! What a powerful love! What a powerful salvation story! That God would give his only son to make a wretch his treasure! The song points out so well that it was OUR sin why Jesus suffered on the cross. It is OUR voice that is mocking God. We deserve death and we get resurrection instead! All because of Christ Jesus! Hallelujah! Let’s boast in nothing but Jesus!

How deep the Father’s love for us,
How vast beyond all measure
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure

How great the pain of searing loss,
The Father turns His face away
As wounds which mar the chosen One,
Bring many sons to glory

Behold the Man upon a cross,
My sin upon His shoulders
Ashamed I hear my mocking voice,
Call out among the scoffers

It was my sin that held Him there
Until it was accomplished

His dying breath has brought me life
I know that it is finished

I will not boast in anything
No gifts, no power, no wisdom
But I will boast in Jesus Christ
His death and resurrection

Why should I gain from His reward?
I cannot give an answer
But this I know with all my heart
His wounds have paid my ransom
(REPEAT)

Gracious God,
O, how you save a wretch like me!
Please forgive me, Lord!
O, how you make me your treasure!
How deep is your love!
I praise you forever and ever!
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you continue your faith journey this Holy Week!

Q4U: What do you think about Melodic Mondays? I’ve been thinking about this one being the last Melodic Monday. Would that be okay with you? I might once in awhile share a Christian song in the future, too, but I’ve realized that Mondays are the least visited days on my blog. I would appreciate your feedback on Melodic Mondays AND anything else you would like to say. Thank you! I appreciate you!
