Fresh Start Feels Good – Now What?

Fresh Start Feels Good – Now What?

Don’t you just love how God works? How he gives us a fresh start time after time? How he pulls us out of chaos and shows us the right way to go?

But me he caught—reached all the way
from sky to sea; he pulled me out
Of that ocean of hate, that enemy chaos,
the void in which I was drowning.
They hit me when I was down,
      but God stuck by me.
   He stood me up on a wide-open field;
I stood there saved—surprised to be loved!
 (2 Samuel 22: 17-20, MSG, also Psalm 18: 16-19, MSG)

Yesterday I blogged about how God heals us if we bring all the broken peaces to him. Today God lead me to read Psalm 18 which talks about this exact same thing and points us how to proceed from here.

God made my life complete
when I placed all the pieces before him.
When I cleaned up my act,
he gave me a fresh start.
   Indeed, I’ve kept alert to God’s ways;
I haven’t taken God for granted.
Every day I review the ways he works,
I try not to miss a trick.
   I feel put back together,
      and I’m watching my step.
God rewrote the text of my life
when I opened the book of my heart to his eyes.
(2 Samuel 22: 21-25, MSG, also Psalm 18: 20-24, MSG)

God loves to give us a fresh start. When we are cleaned, healed and put together it sure feels wonderful. It feels like a huge weight would have been lifted off our shoulders or we’d have once again air to breath and a future to look forward. And we do! In Christ we have life and more life to come! The Holy Spirit flows into our lives creating beauty out of ashes.  A fresh start doesn’t only feel good, it is good.

What to do if we want to continue to feel this good? Take heart the advice of Psalm 18:

1) Keep alert to God’s ways.
2) Don’t take God for granted.
3) Review every day the ways he works.
4) Watch your step!

Gracious God,
Thank you for giving us a fresh start!
We surrender everything to you.
We love you and we adore you!
Show us how you want us to live.
Guide our steps.
Be our everything!
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you boldly continue your faith journey in Christ!
