Real Love vs. Hollywood
February 7, 2012 Christian living

I don’t even pretend to be a romance expert. But I know what real love is. And what’s not. In this romance-crazy world people have lost a sense of right and wrong also in the areas of love. Hollywood seems to be the last word on what’s cool and what’s not. Hollywood seems to be the authority over happiness in relationships nowadays. But I dare to say Hollywood does not have a clue about what real love is.

Hollywood has watered even romance down and puts silly motions and over-emphasized feelings on a pedestal.  Hollywood makes you feel you’re a failure if you are not in a love relationship. Hollywood makes you think you deserve to be always pampered. Hollywood keeps feeding lies over lies to the romance-crazy world. But people who are craving to be loved will not find what they are looking for in Hollywood. The real love is found on the cross of Golgotha.

For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life. (John 3:16, AMP)

Real love is so radical that it is nowadays becoming so controversial that adds talking about it are banned. But the good news is … no matter how hard the world tries to silence the voice of God it’s not going to succeed. Because God’s love is so radical, so scandalous, so amazing that -when we let it embrace us- it transforms us, fills us with love and grace, and sends us out to love others.

Real love builds us up.
Real love sustains us.
Real love supports, heals, and encourages.
Real love cries with us, stays with us through thick and thin.
Real love is faithful, unselfish, and kind.
Real love embraces us with unending peace.
Real love is inclusive and welcoming.
Real love keeps giving.
Real love never leaves us.
Real love is more real than life itself.

Real love is so amazing that when we get even just a glimpse of if, all we can say is ‘WOW’.

And we know (understand, recognize, are conscious of, by observation and by experience) and believe (adhere to and put faith in and rely on) the love God cherishes for us. God is love, and he who dwells and continues in love dwells and continues in God, and God dwells and continues in him. (1 John 4:16, AMP)

Gracious God,
Your love is so astonishing,
so powerful, so amazing!
Thank you for loving
each and everyone
beyond our wildest dreams!
Be with all of us but especially with
everyone who feels unloved,
unaccepted, unwelcome.
Wrap them in your amazing love!
Enable all of us to love more!
In Jesus’ name,

Q4U: How do you deal with the romance-crazy world?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you live in real love!
