The Relativity Theory + The Power of Prayer

The Relativity Theory + The Power of Prayer

According to the relativity theory light travels from the sun to the earth in about eight (8) minutes (measured by human beings). But I find it extremely interesting and intriguing that from the light’s point of view there is no time used for the travel/light is all the time there. This means the speed of light from lights’ perspective is zero (0) seconds from the sun to the world .This is the message that we have heard from him and announce to you: “God is light and there is no darkness in him at all.” (1 John 1:5, CEB)

God is light! From God’s point of view there is no time used for travel from God to human beings, the Light is all the time there. From the human point of view we might think there is some sort of delay (even if it is just 8 minutes) in receiving Light. But that’s just a question of our incapability to reason at the level of the Light!

I’m just a man with a basic education
I don’t mean to question anyone’s reputation
But there is only one author of creation

So when I add up Mr. Einstein’s calculation

The theory of relativity

Says E=MC
2 believe the equation’s missing one thing
And that’s the power of prayer…
~ from “Speed of Light” by Bruce Carroll

So, if we, as Bruce Carroll suggests in his powerful song “Speed of Light”, add the power of prayer to the relativity theory we are closer to the God-perspective on things. God is always there whether we can feel his presence or not. We are called to take God at his word and trust that he really is with us 24/7. We might feel there is a delay but that’s because of our incapability to reason at the level of the Light!

At the speed of light
Jesus is there

At the speed of light

He can be anywhere

In the blink of an eye

In the dark of despair

Across space and time, hope arrives

At the speed of time
~ from “Speed of Light” by Bruce Carroll

Gracious God,
Thank you for creating such an amazing world!
We can understand all your ways but
Guide us to take you at your word.
Help us to trust you that you really are with us 24/7.
Help us to believe in you even when we don’t feel your presence.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

  1. We must have faith, it is our carnal mind that makes us question & try to reason. God is always on time, His time not ours. Love,Peace & Blessings to all.

  2. It is actually quite a comfort to realize that God’s timing/speed is not ours!  His perspective is of more than we could possibly see.  However, because He sees everything, past, present, future at His speed of light =) we can trust that whatever He does is always good!  We may not understand it, but then, our perspective is human and limited.  I’m trusting in the One who sees ALL things with infinite wisdom! Blessings!

    1. Thanks so much, Caroline. I should have quoted 55:8-9! Here it is:
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
                  declares the LORD.
“As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.

We have such an awesome God. Rest in Him! Blessings!
