The Resurrection Life Is Not Business As Usual

The Resurrection Life Is Not Business As Usual

On the Third Day Christ Was Risen

Do you believe that Jesus was risen on the third day?
If yes, how do you practice resurrection?
How is your life different because of the resurrection of Jesus Christ?
Because resurrection life should not be business as usual.
Just see what the apostles did:

The apostles continued to bear powerful witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and an abundance of grace was at work among them all. (Acts 4:33, CEB)

How are you bearing powerful witness to Jesus?
Have you asked people around whether they’ve heard that Jesus is risen?
Do you allow God’s grace to be at work in/through you?

Now that we are set right with God by means of this sacrificial death, the consummate blood sacrifice, there is no longer a question of being at odds with God in any way. If, when we were at our worst, we were put on friendly terms with God by the sacrificial death of his Son, now that we’re at our best, just think of how our lives will expand and deepen by means of his resurrection life! Now that we have actually received this amazing friendship with God, we are no longer content to simply say it in plodding prose. We sing and shout our praises to God through Jesus, the Messiah! (Romans 5:9-11,MSG, emphasis added)

God wants to expand and deepen our live by means of his resurrection life! What is our response? Yes, no, maybe, maybe later?

God wants to be friends with us, spend time with us. God wants to continue his work here on the earth through us. How do we respond? Yes, no, maybe, maybe later?

You are united with the one who was raised from the dead so that we can bear fruit for God. (Romans 7:4, CEB, emphasis added)

If God has touched your heart…you are called to abide in Him.
If you are set right with God…you are called to bear witness for the resurrection.
If you believe Jesus was raised on the third day…you are called to share the good news.

So if you’re serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don’t shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ—that’s where the action is. See things from his perspective. (Col.3: 1-2, MSG)

If you are serious about resurrection living…act like it.
If you believe that Jesus is alive…be alert for God.
If you are a person of resurrection…live in the Light!

Because resurrection living is not business as usual.
It is about living with God.
It is about abiding in Christ.
It is about being powered by the Holy Spirit.

Resurrection living is about saying yes to God.
Right here, right now, forever and ever.
Yes! Yes! Yes!

Gracious God,
Forgive us for going about our lives
like nothing had changed!
Show us how to live out our faith!
Show us how to bear witness for you!
Enable us to bear fruit for you.
Guide, empower, equip!
Expand and deepen our lives!
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

  1. Oh, thank you for this reminder!  How often I fail to live as though He is risen, as though everything has changed – but He is and it has!  I want my life to reflect that.  I need my life to reflect that.  Thank you so, so much for telling me to examine myself.  That’s something I ought to do a whole lot more often.  Thank you for honesty, the kind that brings about conviction, shows me where I’m not living what I’m preaching.  Oh, how I need this!  Thank you.  Thank you, thank you, thank you.

    1. Thanks so much, Mary, for your comment! Yes, too often we fail to live as though Christ is risen. And we do need reminders to turn back to Him. Thankfully he is always waiting for us. 🙂 Good to share the journey with you, sis. Abundant blessings to you as you seek to serve the Risen Lord!
