Spiritual Spring Cleaning

Spiritual Spring Cleaning

Spiritual Spring Cleaning
Spring seems to be late this year.
Yet we hope.

The same way the second coming of Jesus seems to be delayed.
Yet we hope.

What can we do while we are waiting? Prepare!

When the spring weather will finally reach the north, it will be sudden.
When Jesus finally comes back, it will also be sudden.

We need to prepared.
How can we do that?

It’s time for spiritual spring cleaning!
It’s time to approach God and let him make a clean sweep in our soul.
It’s time to get ready for the resurrection!

Examine me, God, from head to foot,
    order your battery of tests.
Make sure I’m fit
    inside and out
So I never lose
    sight of your love,
But keep in step with you,
    never missing a beat.
(Psalm 26:2-3 , MSG)

What is the state of your soul?
What is dead, what is alive?
What is dusty, what is dirty?
What needs to go so new spiritual shoots could appear?

I scrub my hands with purest soap,
then join hands with the others in the great circle,
    dancing around your altar, God,
Singing God-songs at the top of my lungs,
    telling God-stories.
(Psalm 26:6-7 , MSG)

How can I make more time for you, Lord?
How can I create more room for you in me, Lord?
How can I serve you more and love you more?

God, I love living with you;
your house glows with your glory.
When it’s time for spring cleaning,
don’t sweep me out with the quacks and crooks,
Men with bags of dirty tricks,
women with purses stuffed with bribe-money.
You know I’ve been aboveboard with you;
    now be aboveboard with me.
I’m on the level with you, God;
I bless you every chance I get.
(Psalm 26:8-12 , MSG)

Empty me of myself, Lord, so I could be filled with you.
Empty me of everything and anything that hinders me of rejoicing in you.
Empty me of unholy things, Lord.

Create in me a new spirit and
restore my soul, Lord.
Fill me with your love, your grace, your hope.

Make me ready for spring.
Make me ready for Easter.
Make me ready for you.

In Jesus’ precious name,
Amen

Q4U: How is your spiritual spring cleaning going? Ready for the resurrection?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you seek God’s will & God’s way in your life. Get ready for Jesus!

  1. The theme of spring cleaning has been on my mind. I follow the blog of a young woman in Israel. She is doing a thorough and painstaking cleaning as she prepares for Pesach–Passover. It has made me more mindful of my preparation for Holy week. A spiritual spring cleaning lights up anticipation for Easter. I have been drawn into more times of prayer.
