Hope Is Not Dead

Hope Is Not Dead

hope is not dead

Hope is not dead. Hope is very much alive. No matter what the world wants you to think. No matter what you are experiencing. No matter what is going on in your life.

Sure, we must accept finite disappointment but never lose infinite hope like Martin Luther King, Jr. put it. Hope is not dead.

How do I know this? Because the Bible tells so. Hope is not dead because the tomb was empty. Hope is not dead because Jesus is not dead.

Praised (honored, blessed) be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah)! By His boundless mercy we have been born again to an ever-living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,[Born anew] into an inheritance which is beyond the reach of change and decay [imperishable], unsullied and unfading, reserved in heaven for you, Who are being guarded (garrisoned) by God’s power through [your] faith [till you fully inherit that final] salvation that is ready to be revealed [for you] in the last time.  (1 Peter 1:3-5, AMP, emphasis added)

Because Jesus was raised from the dead, we have all the hope we ever need. Because Jesus lives, we have grace upon grace and hope upon hope. Because all the promises of the Bible are valid, we have everything to be hopeful in any situation.

The empty tomb was a game changer. The resurrection life is available for all of us by grace through faith in Christ. Hope everlasting is readily available for anyone who yearns to have it.

And the hope God gives to his followers is not wishful thinking and it’s not theoretical. The hope that God provides works and it can be experienced right now and right here. Let us pray:

Gracious God,
We yearn to have hope and life everlasting.
We repent and ask you in Jesus’ name to live in our hearts.
Pour out enough grace to cover our old lives
and give us the joy of salvation and hope everlasting.
Touch each of us with your grace in the ways we need it now.
Show us how to hold on to hope in any situation.
Enable us to pass these incredible gifts on to others.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Q4U: Is Christian hope theoretical or can it be experienced in every day life? What do you think? What’s your experience?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, today and hold on to hope no matter of what! Jesus will deliver us!

  1. You always get right to the heart of the matter, Mari-Anna. I love that. “The empty tomb was a game changer.” Amen! I’m so thankful hope is alive, even when I forget to see it.

  2. Hope is alive because my God is alive! While I might not always FEEL hopeful, I can trust in what I know and ignore my feelings. Feelings can be deceptive.

  3. Hope. My favorite word. It is day to day, through the good and the bad. It took me too many years to learn this. It was by giving up hope and making the worst mistakes in my life that I learned that hope never runs out. When it seems that there is no hope left, there is always more. God is so amazing and good and faithful and it is so important to know the hope that comes from knowing Him.
