Out of Touch With God?

Out of Touch With God?

out of touch with God
Are you out of sync with yourself? Maybe you are out of touch with God. That’s how it usually is, at least, for me. The root reason why we are not doing well is that we have somehow lost our touch with God.

When we leave God out of the picture, our lives become rootless and aimless. We are out of sorts, disoriented and confused. We have been created to live with God. Hence when we loose our touch with God, we also become out of sync with ourselves.

God’s Message:
Cursed is the strong one

    who depends on mere humans,
Who thinks he can make it on muscle alone
and sets God aside as dead weight.
He’s like a tumbleweed on the prairie,
out of touch with the good earth.
He lives rootless and aimless
in a land where nothing grows.
(Jeremiah 17;5-6, MSG, emphasis added)

When do we learn to trust God, to rely on God without holding anything back?
When do we learn to put God first and everything else second?
When do we learn to arrange our lives to reflect these principles?
How many times we need to lose touch with God to learn this?

The only way to find ourselves is to find ourselves in God.
And the only way to God is Jesus.

“But blessed is the man who trusts me, God,
the woman who sticks with God.
They’re like trees replanted in Eden,
putting down roots near the rivers—
Never a worry through the hottest of summers,
    never dropping a leaf,
Serene and calm through droughts,
    bearing fresh fruit every season.

“The heart is hopelessly dark and deceitful,
a puzzle that no one can figure out.
But I, God, search the heart
    and examine the mind.
I get to the heart of the human.
I get to the root of things.
I treat them as they really are,
not as they pretend to be.”
(Jeremiah 17: 7-10, MSG, emphasis added)

Jesus is the answer for everyone who is out of sync, restless or anxious.
Jesus is the answer for everyone who don’t know her/himself anymore.
Jesus is the answer for everyone who is dying inside.

Now that we know what we have—Jesus, this great High Priest with ready access to God—let’s not let it slip through our fingers. We don’t have a priest who is out of touch with our reality. He’s been through weakness and testing, experienced it all—all but the sin. So let’s walk right up to him and get what he is so ready to give. Take the mercy, accept the help. (Hebrews 4:14-16, MSG)

Not only because Jesus knows what we are going through right now. Jesus understands and sympathizes with our weaknesses. But because through Jesus we have a ready access to God. Through Jesus we can take the mercy and accept the help from above. Through Jesus we can be in touch with God every day of our lives.

So what to do when you find yourself out of sync with yourself and out of touch with God? Turn to Jesus. Repent. Pray like never before. Immerse yourself in Scriptures. Make a standing date with God. And bask habitually in grace.

Gracious God,
You never leave us
but forgive us for leaving you.
You don’t stop loving us
but forgive us for loving ourselves
more than you.
Create in us a new heart
and renew a faithful spirit in me.
Enable us to always remain in you.
in Jesus’ name,
Amen
