Embracing Epic Grace

Embracing Epic Grace

Embracing Epic Grace
There’s never too much grace. I love grace and I breath grace. It’s what sustains me and keeps me going. We should never take God’s grace granted and get too used to it. That’s why we need reminders of God’s abundant and amazing grace along the way. That’s why I was thrilled by the title of Kurt Bubna‘s book Epic Grace. Isn’t that true? Grace is not just amazing; it is truly epic.

I’ve been waiting to get my hands on this book (with such an awesome title and all). I am glad to report the book is finally here. And the book is well written and flows smoothly.  I will be blogging through it as part of #EpicGraceWednesdays. I will use the book as a spring board for reflection. You are more than welcome to join me in reading and discussing Epic Grace, Chronicles of Recovering Idiot. I know, the rest of the title is awesome, too. We all are idiots but by God’s grace we are recovering idiots. And because of grace we have hope upon hope.

Kurt writes “You see, as a grace magnet, I haven’t just gone through struggles; I’ve grown through them as well. Most important, I’ve learned that God deeply loves idiots – including the one behind the face I see in the mirror ever morning.” This is what I pray for all of us…that we’d grow -by God’s grace- through our struggles.

Then nothing is pointless.
Then nothing is worthless.
Then nothing is meaningless.

We so need God’s grace in everything. Like Kurt says “to survive and even thrive in the midst of our suffering takes grace – often in epic propotions.” Amen. Thank God grace is always more than our struggles, our sins or our inadequacies.

But sin didn’t, and doesn’t, have a chance in competition with the aggressive forgiveness we call grace. When it’s sin versus grace, grace wins hands down. (Romans 5:20, MSG)

Grace really isn’t just a nice sentiment, it is a powerful force of God that will not only rescue us but also restores us and empowers us for victorious living. Like Kurt Bubna reminds us “what is impossible for me in my own strength and wisdom is HIMpossible through God’s grace.” So, my dear friend, no matter what you are going through today, don’t lose heart. God is with you and his epic grace is at work in your life. There’s nothing better. Let’s keep embracing epic grace!

Gracious God,
Thank you for reminding us
of your epic grace.
Pour out grace according to our needs.
Because we truly need it.
Sustain us, empower us, enable us
to live joyfully in you.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Q4U: Are you a recovering idiot in need of grace? How have you experienced God’s epic grace?

Blessings to you, my fellow pilgrim, as you embrace God’s grace-  even in epic portions!

  1. Yes, I am a recovering idiot. And at the age of 34, I think I’m just now starting to understand how truly epic His grace is! I’m stopping by from Tell His Story. 🙂
