Feeling Small or Living Large?

Feeling Small or Living Large?

feeling small or living large?
Are you feeling small or fenced in? Maybe your perspective is off kilter. When we are focused on ourselves, our lives gets smaller and smaller. But when we open our eyes to help others, our lives get larger and larger.

The world of the generous gets larger and larger;
the world of the stingy gets smaller and smaller.
(Proverbs 11:24, MSG)

And when we focus our eyes on God, our lives are getting even more spacious. In the Hebrew language the word salvation is yasha which means “to be wide, or roomy – a broad and spacious place?” Yasha communicates beautifully the idea of freedom. We are called to live in freedom, to enter this wide-open spacious life. Salvation is “liberation from confinement, constriction, and limitation.”

Dear, dear Corinthians, I can’t tell you how much I long for you to enter this wide-open, spacious life. We didn’t fence you in. The smallness you feel comes from within you. Your lives aren’t small, but you’re living them in a small way. I’m speaking as plainly as I can and with great affection. Open up your lives. Live openly and expansively! (2 Cor. 6:11-13, MSG)

If you are feeling small, lift up your gaze to Jesus. You are a child of the King of the Universe. You are precious;you are beloved. You are meant to live and love large. Don’t fence yourself in.

Let God enable you.
Let Jesus empower you.
Let the Holy Spirit equip you.

Feeling small or living large?
The latter, you betcha.
By the grace of God!

Gracious God,
We don’t want to live small
or feel small or fenced in.
Open our lives  up to you.
Save us from ourselves!
Make our lives larger and larger
according to your plan.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen
