Authentic Living and True Worship

Authentic Living and True Worship

Authentic living, true worship
I think we all grave authentic living, being true to ourselves. We want to forget faking and hiding behind masks. But do we dare to do so? Do we dare to bare our souls to others? Are we finally ready to admit that we are not perfect? Not only to ourselves and people around us but also to God? Like he would not know everything already, right? Like God would want us to be anything else but our true selves.

“It’s who you are and the way you live that count before God. Your worship must engage your spirit in the pursuit of truth. That’s the kind of people the Father is out looking for: those who are simply and honestly themselves before him in their worship. God is sheer being itself—Spirit. Those who worship him must do it out of their very being, their spirits, their true selves, in adoration.” (John 4:23-24, MSG)

Only when we are ready to be who we are, we are able to worship with everything we’ve got. When we finally are our very own self before God, we are ready to commune intimately with him. And only then we are truly worshiping. When this happens, also authentic living is possible.

Authentic living and true worship are intertwined. When we are right with God, we are also able to live honestly and openly. When we are first loved and accepted by God, we are able to pass on kindness to others. When we are simply ourselves before God, we are also able to stop faking to others. Then what we have craved all along happens: Authentic living, true worship, freedom from faking. A very blessed existence.

God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us.

Glory to God in the church!
Glory to God in the Messiah, in Jesus!
Glory down all the generations!
Glory through all millennia! Oh, yes!
(Eph.3:20-21, MSG)

If you crave for authentic living and true worship, let the Holy Spirit work in you. God can do it. And he will do it gently with much joy. God has created you and he wants to meet you as you are. No faking, no manipulation; nothing but you with God from whom all the blessings flow. The beginning of authentic living and true worship.

Gracious God,
We so need you.
Forgive us for messing up our very own lives.
Enable us to take down all our masks and quit unauthentic habits.
We want to be true to ourselves and you.
We want to adore you in truth.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

  2. This is a wonderful post! Thanks so much for linking up on my blog today. This is just spot on with what I needed to hear.

It’s such a waste of our time to not be authentic before God. He created us to be intimate with Him, and yet we put up so many walls to keep Him out. I really loved this and the scriptures you shared. Reading this gave me such relief. I can be myself!
