The Heart of the Gospel

The Heart of the Gospel

the heart of the gospel
Did you know that the color red is in the core of Christianity? I was checking out verses including the word red. When I was going through those verses I realized red was indeed in the heart of the Gospel. Let me explain.

As Oswald Chambers has said “Sin is not weakness, it is a disease; it is red-handed rebellion against God and the magnitude of that rebellion is expressed by Calvary’s cross”. We all are rebels against God and sinners in need of forgiveness. Thank God he has provided us grace to cleanse us inside out.

The Bible proclaims the awesomeness and power  of grace this way:

“Come. Sit down. Let’s argue this out.”
    This is God’s Message:
“If your sins are blood-red,
    they’ll be snow-white.
If they’re red like crimson,
    they’ll be like wool.
If you’ll willingly obey,
    you’ll feast like kings.
But if you’re willful and stubborn,
    you’ll die like dogs.”
That’s right. God says so.
(Isaiah 1:18-20, MSG, emphasis added)

No sin is a match to God’s grace. The blood of Jesus washes our blood-red sins away. That’s the heart of the Gospel. God sent his only son to die for us so everyone who believes could be forgiven. We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus.

When we have been made right with God, we are free to enjoy life with God. What a difference! God pulls our lives together. He guides our path. His love is better than anything in the world.

God’s Word is better than a diamond,
better than a diamond set between emeralds.
You’ll like it better than strawberries in spring,
    better than red, ripe strawberries.
(Psalm 19:10, MSG, emphasis added)

Gracious God,
Forgive us for rebelling against you.
Wash our blood-red sins with the blood of Jesus.
Make our sins snow-white,
make us yours.
You are indeed better than anything else.
May we praise your name forever and ever.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Q4U: How has God’s grace surprised you?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you live your life with God!

  1. Today as our church began a series called The Heart of the Matter, I was able to use the “red”. Ideas as our children’s message. god is so wonderful as he provides in large and small ways.
