The Blessings of Being Yourself

The Blessings of Being Yourself

The blessings of being yourself
There are good reasons why you are you. God made you unique and he wants you to be true to your real self. Don’t try to be someone else, that’s not who God made you to be.

Sometimes we even forget who we really are. It might not be intentional, some circumstances just have pushed our inner self to retreat. Then we need to ask God to show us who we really are, whom God made us to be.

I remember a time in my life when I had to relearn who I was and what I liked. Even now I feel that I’ve somewhat forgotten to celebrate life the way I used to. And I am eager to return to joyful living by God’s grace. How about you? Are you comfortable in your own skin?

If you’re confused of who you really are, seek God and he will guide you.
If you feel you’re lost your true self, love God and he will restore you.

But if one loves God truly
[with affectionate reverence, prompt obedience, and grateful recognition of His blessing],
he is known by God
[recognized as worthy of His intimacy and love, and he is owned by Him].

(1 Cor. 8:3, AMP)

Being yourself is liberating. No faking, no pretending, not acting. Just being yourself and knowing that you are loved and cherished by God.

Being yourself is also fulfilling and satisfying. When we dare to be extraordinarily ourselves, we are marked by joy, the way God wants us to be.

Being yourself is a blessing. We can’t truly know ourselves without God and only by knowing God we can know ourselves. But when we do, we are truly blessed.

Gracious God,
Let us know you.
Let us know ourselves.
Enable us to let you be you.
Enable us to be ourselves.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Q4U: Do you know yourself? Have you ever lost your inner self?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you be yourself as God intended you to be!

  1. Hello Mari-Anna, dropping by from Faith Jam at Bonnie’s place!

I love this: “We can’t truly know ourselves without God and only by knowing God we can know ourselves. But when we do, we are truly blessed.”
And I also loved the verse you shared, how beautiful! Blessings to you!
