God Waits to Be Gracious to You

God Waits to Be Gracious to You

God waits to be gracious to you
Do you know that God waits to be gracious to you? That God is ready to show mercy on you? That God loves you so much that he wants to show his endless compassion to you?

And therefore the Lord [earnestly] waits [expecting, looking, and longing] to be gracious to you; and therefore He lifts Himself up, that He may have mercy on you and show loving-kindness to you. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) are all those who [earnestly] wait for Him, who expect and look and long for Him [for His victory, His favor, His love, His peace, His joy, and His matchless, unbroken companionship]!  (Isaiah 30:18, AMP, *)

Yes, for real. God can’t wait to shower you with his boundless grace. Don’t hold back any more. Run to God. He already knows all your transgressions and still he is eager to show his loving-kindness to you.

Just like Jesus showed mercy to the Samaritan woman at the well. Jesus knew all she had done yet she invited the woman to drink the living water. That’s what the gospel is all about. You are loved just as you are but you are given grace upon grace to become who you are in Christ.

God is waiting for each of us to come to him so he can be gracious to us. This is what it is to be loved completely. This is what it is to be cared deeply.

This joy, this peace, this freedom calls us to do what the Samaritan woman did. We are urged to get going and share the good news with everyone we meet.

Meanwhile, because one woman shared with her neighbors how Jesus exposed her past and present, the village of Sychar was transformed—many Samaritans heard and believed. The Samaritans approached Jesus and repeatedly invited Him to stay with them, so He lingered there for two days on their account. With the words that came from His mouth, there were many more believing Samaritans. They began their faith journey because of the testimony of the woman beside the well; but when they heard for themselves, they were convinced the One they were hearing was and is God’s Anointed, the Liberating King, sent to rescue the entire world. (John 4: 39-42, VOICE, *)

Our task is to point to the right direction, God will take care of the rest. We are to share that God can’t wait to show them mercy, God will transform their hearts. We are to guide people to Jesus, he will meet them with love and grace.

Amazing things happen when we dare to share the goodness of God. Not because of us but because God is longing to be gracious to his people. Just think. What could happen if you dared to put your faith in practice?

Dear God,
How can you love us so?
How is it possible that you are waiting to show us mercy?
We don’t deserve to be loved so.
But we want to be loved so.
We gladly receive your loving-kindness.
Pour out grace upon grace.
Pour out love upon love.
Pour out joy upon joy.
Make us yours.
Make us like Jesus.
Empower us to share you goodness.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Q4U: How do you respond to God’ unconditional and boundless love?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you receive grace upon grace!

  1. I so love this question, Mari-Anna: “Do you know that God waits to be gracious to you?” Sometimes we forget that he DOES have bucketfuls of grace to pour on us, willingly and joyously. I want to live with hands open to receive it. Thanks, friend!
