See the Son

See the Son

Jesus Above All

This year I want to really see the son of God.
This year I want to put Christ above all else.
This year I want to cleave to Jesus.

For this is My Father’s will and His purpose, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in and cleaves to and trusts in and relies on Him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up [from the dead] at the last day. (John 6:40, AMP)

I want to look in the eyes of Jesus.
I want to drink in every word of Jesus.
I want to spend time with him over tea.
I want to see Jesus for who he really is.

I do not call you servants (slaves) any longer, for the servant does not know what his master is doing (working out). But I have called you My friends, because I have made known to you everything that I have heard from My Father. [I have revealed to you everything that I have learned from Him.]

You have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you and I have appointed you [I have planted you], that you might go and bear fruit and keep on bearing, and that your fruit may be lasting [that it may remain, abide], so that whatever you ask the Father in My Name [as presenting all that I Am], He may give it to you. (John 15:15-16, AMP)

I want to learn to be a friend of Jesus.
I want to listen, laugh and linger with him.
And I want to learn to ask for help.

Just like I urge our children to stop moaning and ask for help I bet Jesus is waiting for me to do the same. Jesus is not pushy. He wants us to recognize our needs and bring them to him.

Jesus wants us to see him who he really is. He is not just another pal. He is the Messiah. He wants to enlarge our lives. But we don’t see him. We don’t recognize him. We don’t put him above all else.

This year I want to change that.
This year I want to see the Son of God.
This year I want to put Christ above all else.
This year I want to be one with Jesus.
And I start by asking for help:

Gracious God,
You see this desire in me to be one with Jesus,
to be one with you.
Send your Spirit to enable me to seize the year
and sit still with Jesus.
Help me to really see your Son.
Fill me with your love and grace.
Make me like your son.
Make me holy like you.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Q4U: What’s your spiritual goal for this year?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you learn to really see the Son!

  1. This is beautiful! It is setting the most important goal you could possibly focus on. I too want to spend more time with Jesus. My goal is to work on becoming a morning person. I want to wake up earlier so I can spend my first moments with Him before everyone else gets up and I have to start breakfast, etc. Good luck to you on your resolution :)!

  2. Great words of encouragement!!! My goal – keep myself more in tune to the leading of the Holy Spirit; to be more obedient to His leading; to sit peacefully at all times in His Presence. My word for the year – Perseverance – ,,,let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus…Heb 12:1-2 …that I may finish my course, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify solemnly of the gospel of the grace of God. Acts 20:24

    Thanks for sharing!!
