What Is Imprinted on Your Heart?

Imprints on your heart
Do you have heroes of faith? Or do you have a faith-filled role model who preaches the gospel (also) without the words? Good for you. My heroes of faith are people who have God’s image imprinted on their hearts. They are people who let God into their lives and have learned to bask in his love and care. They’ve learned to listen to God and trust him no matter of what.

“I will put my instructions deep within them, and I will write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. (Jeremiah 31:33, MSG, *)

Having God’s image imprinted on your heart should not be intimidating. Or – with the words of Wayne Jacobson – “Learning to live by every word that comes from God was never meant to be a test of spirituality or a merit badge for maturity it’s just the way Father wanted his kids to live. If you realize you’re accommodating yourself to living without that, maybe now is a good time to remind yourself how involved he wants to be with you.”

Having God’s image imprinted on your heart is just the way God wants you to live. Trusting him and resting in him. Letting the Holy Spirit work in and through you. Abiding in Christ and letting the Word of God change you inside out. Enjoying God and sharing his goodness with others.

My child, pay attention to what I say.
    Listen carefully to my words.
Don’t lose sight of them.
Let them penetrate deep into your heart,
for they bring life to those who find them,
and healing to their whole body.
Guard your heart above all else,
for it determines the course of your life.
(Proverbs 4:20-23, NLT, emphasis added,* )

It does matter what is imprinted on your heart. Because your heart determines the course of your life; your life starts in your heart. That’s why you need to make sure it’s God’s name and his word that is imprinted on your heart. Just the way it has always been with the people of God. Just they way God wants you to live: his image and words imprinted on your heart.

Gracious God,
Cleanse my heart from all unrighteousness.
Penetrate your word deep into my heart.
Imprint your image on my heart.
May your life flow in and through me.
In Jesus’ name,

Q4U: Who are your heroes of faith? Why? What’s imprinted on your heart?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you guard your heart above all else!
