The Spiritual Immune System, part 4/4

The Spiritual Immune System, part 4/4

the spiritual immune systemSpiritual exercise is necessary for robust spiritual health. There is no way around it. Any muscle that goes unused becomes weak. Any faith that does not get exercised becomes weak. So what are you waiting for? You even have your own spiritual trainer, the Holy Spirit, available 24/7. Let’s continue our journey towards a strong spiritual immune system.

In the first part of the series I presented a formula for spiritual health. We need to have a healthy diet and a good balance of exercise and rest. All that together equals as the best spiritual immune system.

God (the Spiritual Immune System) : Father (Rest) + Son (Nutrition)+ Holy Spirit(Exercise)

[The second part of the series was about the Father/Rest in the equation. The third part of the series was about the Son/Nutrition. This fourth part of the series is going to be about the Holy Spirit/exercise.]

“If you love me, show it by doing what I’ve told you. I will talk to the Father, and he’ll provide you another Friend so that you will always have someone with you. This Friend is the Spirit of Truth. The godless world can’t take him in because it doesn’t have eyes to see him, doesn’t know what to look for. But you know him already because he has been staying with you, and will even be in you!” (John 14:16-17, MSG,*)

The Holy Spirit is God’s gift to us. The Holy Spirit enables us to feel God’s presence in our lives and equips us to do God’s work in this world. The Holy Spirit energizes us to live according to God’s will. We are called to pray in the Holy Spirit, we are called to listen to the Holy Spirit and we are to go out to do God’s work in the Holy Spirit.

But you, dear friends, carefully build yourselves up in this most holy faith by praying in the Holy Spirit, staying right at the center of God’s love, keeping your arms open and outstretched, ready for the mercy of our Master, Jesus Christ. This is the unending life, the real life!
(Jude 1:20-21, MSG,*)

The Holy Spirit invites us to put our faith in practice. The Holy Spirit gets us moving, gets us to exercise our faith daily. The Holy Spirit sends us to do good works, bear fruit for the glory of God. The Holy Spirit is our motivator, our personal trainer, our spiritual coach. We are not to sit idle, we are to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ! The Holy Spirit will fill us with his life-giving energy and enable us to do what God wants us to do.

May the God of green hope fill you up with joy, fill you up with peace, so that your believing lives, filled with the life-giving energy of the Holy Spirit, will brim over with hope! (Romans 15:13, MSG,*)

God is indeed our best spiritual immune system: Father calls us, Christ claims us and the Holy Spirit sends us out to the world.

Gracious God,
Fill us with your Holy Spirit!
Energize us!
Motivate us!
Enable us!
Equips us!
Send us!
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.

Q4U: Do you get enough spiritual exercise? Where is God sending you today?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as the Holy Spirit fills you with his life-giving energy and enables you to reach out to others!

* [As you might have noticed, I enjoy reading the Bible in different translations and love comparing them. I have started linking the Bible verses to Biblegateway.com so you can easily read (and compare) them in the different versions I’ve used while preparing each post.]

I always appreciate if you help sharing the blog posts with your friends & followers. So that everyone might know the love of God, receive the grace of Christ, and live in the presence of the Holy Spirit! Thank you! BLESSINGS!
