3 Words that Change Everything

3 Words that Change Everything

3 words that change everything

It is important to say ‘I love you’ yet those three words are not ones that change everything. They might change your marital status or bring otherwise happiness into your life. But the three words that I am talking about can change the eternal status of every single person ever lived. Talk about life-changing words. One of the most powerful Bible verses reveals these words that change everything:

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God. (Eph.2:8, NRSV, emphasis added,*)

The three words that change everything are ‘grace’, ‘saved’, and ‘faith’. Without them Christianity would be just a religion. Christmas would be just a family gathering. Easter would be just a historical curiosity. And our lives would be hopeless.

But because God has mercy…that’s not the case. Because God has lots and lots of love…that’s not how things are. What’s so special about these words, you ask. Let’s see.

GRACE. With the words of R.G. Lee “My own definition of the grace of God is this: the unlimited and unmerited favor given to the utterly undeserving.” That’s why grace is so amazing. We don’t deserve it yet God gives it to us freely.

Grace changes our standing with God Almighty. By grace we are made right with God and forever welcome into the presence of God.

SAVED. We have been saved by Jesus on the cross. Like C.S. Lewis has said “Christ died for men precisely because men are not worth dying for; to make them worth it”. It’s already done for us. There’s nothing we can add to it. It’s done. It’s finished. Thank you, Jesus!

Salvation changes our destination. We are saved from eternal punishment. We are on our way to heaven, to live forever with God.

FAITH. Even faith is a gift from God. Our desire to believe is aroused by the Holy Spirit. Our courage to take a leap of faith is built by the Holy Spirit. Our faith is continually empowered by the Holy Spirit. As Tozer has said it “Faith was a living, flaming thing leading to surrender and obedience to the commandments of Christ.”

Faith changes our lives. Our life will never be the same once we’ve accepted Jesus as our savior. As a follower of Christ we are no longer in charge. But we are loved, cherished and saved. We are protected, helped and blessed. We are empowered for holy living and equipped for Christan life and service.

Because of these three words: grace, saved, and faith, we are free to be what we were created to be. We are free to enjoy life with God. Indeed these three words change everything. For better. Thanks be to God!

Gracious God,
We are so richly blessed by your gifts.
Be praised forever and ever.
We don’t deserve you or your gifts.
But you are all we have.
Pour out grace upon grace,
faith upon faith, life upon life.
We love you and we adore you.
Teach us how to live with you.
Show us how to be holy like you.
Thank you for your love and care.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Q4U: Has ‘saved by grace through faith’ changed everything for you?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you let God change you according to His plans!

* [As you might have noticed, I enjoy reading the Bible in different translations and love comparing them. I have started linking the Bible verses to Biblegateway.com so you can easily read (and compare) them in the different versions I’ve used while preparing each post.]

I always appreciate if you help sharing the blog posts with your friends & followers. So that everyone might know the love of God, receive the grace of Christ, and live in the presence of the Holy Spirit! Thank you! Be blessed now and forever!
