Friends with Jesus
Friendship is a beautiful thing. Having a close friend is a real blessing, don’t you think? One of those things that makes life better for sure. But being friends with Jesus is even better! How come? It is divine!
I no longer call you slaves, because a master doesn’t confide in his slaves. Now you are my friends, since I have told you everything the Father told me. (John 15:15, NLT)
What does being friends with Jesus mean? It means – just like in any friendship – that we want to spend time with each other. We want to rejoice or mourn with the other. It means we want to confide in each other. It means we want to get to know each other intimately. Of course this takes time. But friendship always gives more than it takes. And being friends with Jesus gives even more..
Jesus is unvisible (but not an imaginary) friend. You know, Jesus is alive and he is on this journey with us. He sticks with us through thick and thin. He sits with us and talks with us if we take time to listen. He listens to us and understands what we are going through. He is always there for us. He helps us to be what God created us to be. He does not let us down.
But as I said it takes time to build friendship. It takes time to become thoroughly comfortable with each other. But it is the best thing ever. Start talking to Jesus like to your best friend and soon you don’t want to stop. And, hey, you don’t need to stop. It is beyond wonderful to have a best friend with you at all times. And not just any friend. But Jesus: The Son of God, the prince of peace, the Living Word, the Lamb of God.
Aren’t we beyond blessed that God wants to be best friends with us?
Aren’t we fools if we don’t take Jesus up on his offer?
Gracious God,
Thank you for Jesus.
Thank you for wanting to be our friend.
We want to be friends with Jesus too.
Show us how we can get to know you better.
Show us how wonderful it is to confide in each other.
Be praised forever and ever!
You are beyond wonderful!

blessings in Christ always~confiding in u & other friends in Jesus…
my hubby, who recently suffered a heart attack is doing well in that area, & God has been sooo gracious to provide insurance coverage, hallelujah!
Greg is still left struggling w/an addiction to nicotine…he hasn't gone back to smoking, but hasn't stepped down on gum/patches, it is such a strong & ugly stimulant…i see the enemy stir & sift him daily & i can only stand back & pray….my faith sees him delivered & healed~knowing the experience of struggle does sharpen & grow us, in His good time…please pray for me, as i endure this season w/my husband, much grace is needed~~~

Beautiful post! God truly does long for intimate encounters with his precious children. It is a wondrous gift to relate to Him as a friend. I love reading posts by my sisters in Christ who have taken the time to develop the gift of discernment – learning to ‘hear’ the voice of our beautiful Savior. Do you remember the old hymn, “What a friend we have in Jesus…” I thought of that as I reading your post. What an encouraging post to read–to be reminded of our friend who “sticks closer than a brother.”
