Refresh Me, Lord

Refresh Me, Lord

Refresh Me, LordAre you tired, weary, and/or exhausted? Are you in need of tender loving care? Are you in need of restoration? You’ve come to the right place, I can point you to the Source of Life.

Come, even if you don’t want to admit your need. Come, even if you don’t want or dare to ask for help. God knows your inner most parts of you. He knows what you need before you do. And God invites you to ask for his help. Only then he can meet your needs. All of your needs. Even those you are not aware of. Even those you don’t want to talk about. Even those that have been dragging you down for years now.

I’ll refresh tired bodies;
I’ll restore tired souls.
(Jeremiah 31:25, MSG)

This is what God does. He refreshes tired bodies and restores tired souls. We don’t have any other hope. But what hope this is! Real, refreshing and everlasting.

But blessed is the man who trusts me, God,
the woman who sticks with God.
They’re like trees replanted in Eden,
putting down roots near the rivers—
Never a worry through the hottest of summers,
    never dropping a leaf,
Serene and calm through droughts,
    bearing fresh fruit every season.
(Jeremiah 17:7-8, MSG)

And this works in today’s world too. God is real. God is loving. God is active. We just need to get ourselves into God’s presence. And that’s possible because of Jesus. He made it possible for us to approach God freely. Why don’t we then do it on daily basis? Why do we think we should not bother God with our concerns? Why do we allow the enemy keep us away? When there’s nothing that brings God more happiness that his children flocking to him day after day?

Repent, then,
and turn to God,
so that your sins may be wiped out,
that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.
(Acts 3:19, NIV)

Times of refreshing sound really good, doesn’t it? Yes, it does and it’s not too good to be true like most of the stuff the world offers. Okay, you say. But how to go about it? Just talk to God. Tell him how you feel and what you need and stay in God’s presence until you feel better. God will be there when you call him. Receive his grace. Receive his peace. Receive his love.

Lord,
I do repent.
I do turn to you.
Forgive me and, please,
pour out grace upon grace.
I need you.
Refresh me.
Restore me.
Refill me.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Q4U: How does God refresh you?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you let God take care of all your needs.

  1. Discovered you today at Tell His Story, and so appreciate your focus. We don’t often hear the truth that so often the reason we are weak and weary is that we are carrying a load that God never intended for us to carry. He makes forgiveness available through His Son. Blessings to you today!
