Use God by Faith

Use God by FaithDo you dare to bother God with your problems? Or do you think God is not interested in what is going on in your life? Too often we keep away from God because we think we should not bother God. That is so sad. So, so sad. We think we are noble to leave God to others who are more desperate for God. But, first of all, God is not that small; God is capable to help all of us. And, second of all, that way the enemy wins and we lose. The last thing God wants for us. What should we then do? Charles Spurgeon has put it this way:

Learn the Divine skill of making God all things to thee. He can supply thee with all; or, better still, He can be to thee instead of all. Let me urge thee, then, to make use of thy God. Make use of Him in prayer; go to Him often, because He is thy God. Oh, wilt thou fail to use so great a privilege? Fly to Him; tell Him all thy wants. Use Him constantly by faith at all times. If some dark providence has beclouded thee, use thy God as a “sun”; if some strong enemy has beset thee, find in Jehovah a “shield”; for He is a sun and a shield to His people. If thou hast lost thy way in the mazes of life, use Him as a “guide”; for He will direct thee. Whatever thou art, and wherever thou art, remember God is just what thou wantest, and just where thou wantest and that He can do all thou wantest!

Let’s let God be your everything. This doesn’t happen if we do not embrace God and his blessings every single hour of our lives. Only when we spend time with God and open our hearts to him, we get to know him. And this is what God wants for us. He wants us to fly to him. He wants us to seek him with everything we’ve got. He wants to bless us because he loves us. If we keep away from him, we are returning his gifts. And we don’t want that, do we?

We are to use God by faith at all times. And the operative words here are ‘by faith’. When we live by faith, all what is God’s is ours. But only then. But when our hope is Christ, we are safe and secure in God. We are always welcome to draw near to God. We are always wanted at God’s table. We are always welcome to use God by faith.

Why then would we keep away from God’s presence? Because of pride? Because we believe the lies of the enemy? Because we are lazy? But, friends, don’t you know that Hallelujah is our song?

Our hope is not in our own excellency but in God’s excellency. Our salvation does not lay on our own worthiness but on Jesus’ worthiness. Our faith is not based upon what we are able to do but in what Christ has done and is doing for me.

When we live by faith in this amazing joy, we feel drawn to God as we are asking him to make us what he wants us to be. When we practice our faith by embracing God’s gifts to us, we live out our faith for others to see. You see, if our faith does not change how we live our lives, we deny the people around us to see how God lives and works in and through his children. So when we refuge God’s help in our lives and try to manage on our own, we don’t just rob ourselves of God’s blessings, we also rob others to be drawn to God through our example. Ouch.

I think living under our privileges as God’s children leads us further and further away from God. Faith starts fading away and eventually becomes merely a cultural thing. And that is so sad. So, so sad. When we could have a living, loving God on our side! When we could have God as our guide, shield, and sun! When we could experience God’s protection and care in a very personal level! What to do then?

Come near to God and he will come near to you. (James 4:8, NIV)

Talk to God in prayer. More often and always before you use your messenger app in your phone. Make Jesus your go to person and you will be amazed how your life starts to blossom.

God blesses us—our God blesses us! (Psalm 67:6, CEB)

Gracious God,
Forgive us for trying to cope on our own.
Forgive us for refusing your blessings.
Help us, Lord!
Help us to embrace you without reservations.
Help us to make you our go to person.
Help us to make you our everything.
Help us to live our faith in such a way
that it would also bless others.
In Jesus’ name,
