God First
Usually, when we talk about the Biblical concept of putting God first, we think of choosing between God and other things/people in our life. But I think it is also choosing between you and God. We are so selfish that we think of ourselves first all the time. Even in our prayers we just let God know how he could help us. We do not seek him for the sake of him. Lord, have mercy!
That’s why I truly enjoyed Lauren Daingle’s song called First.
Before I bring my need
I will bring my heart
Before I lift my cares
I will lift my arms
I wanna know You
I wanna find You
In every season
In every moment
Before I bring my need
I will bring my heart
And seek You
We truly need to put God first. Not other people. Not worthy causes. Not our agenda, not our calling, not our needs or wants. Not us. But God.
We are told to Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength (Mark 12:30, NIV). That doesn’t happen if we keep putting ourselves, our will or anything else before God.
When we surrender our heart to God, we are on the right track.
When we have our priorities straight, everything else will fall into place.
When we put God first, we find what peace is all about.
Gracious God,
Thank you for keeping calling us back to you.
Forgive us for putting anything but you first.
We want to seek you and keep you always first.
You are our treasure, nothing else compares to you.
In Jesus’ name,

This is so true that many of us feel the weight of circumstances, the excitement of dreams, or whatever it may be on our chests as we come before God in conversation. I am so thankful that He is mindful of us and meets us where we are though, as He is a gentle Savior and not a taskmaster. Thank you for reminding us that no matter place we may be in, we need to come….to just come…because He IS worthy. Be blessed!!!
