Spiritual Salve for Your Soul

Spiritual Salve for Your Soul

Spiritual Salve for Your SoulLike I said on my previous post I’ve been quite exhausted and weary. Blessedly, I know where to go when I am worn out: Jesus. And, let me tell you, Jesus does not let you down. God doesn’t miss a thing. And the healing power of grace is amazing.

I have enjoyed re-reading some posts of mine. I will share with you some of the wisdom. I hope they bless you too on your faith journey. Here’s some spiritual salve for your soul:

“Do you feel that you are buried alive? Do you feel that you’re facing a lot of dirt? Do you feel everything is dark around you? It is all right. Don’t be afraid. It might be that you’ve been (re)planted. A seed needs time to grow before it will see the light. The replanted one needs time to grow its roots deep in the new soil. It all happens in quiet invisibility but we might feel terrible growing pains. But it is all right. It is all part of the preparation process. Don’t be afraid. Don’t be discouraged. There will be light! There will be life!”

Yes, my soul, find rest in God;
my hope comes from him.
Trust in him at all times, you people;
pour out your hearts to him,
for God is our refuge. (Psalm 62:5,8,NIV)

“At those moments when we are distressed for one reason or another we decide who we trust. This is when we practice resurrection or not. This is when we put our hope in the Lord or not. This is when we choose our side. It is easy to believe in God when everything is well. But what do we do when things are not ideal? What do we do when we can’t sense God’s presence? That is when we are defined. That is when we choose our destiny. God or no God?

God is not expecting us to solve our problems. God is not expecting us to be perfect or out of trouble. God expects us to turn to him in everything. God is expecting us to bring our distresses to him and let him deal with them. Life happens. And life is messy. God does not want a sterile version of us. He wants us as we are. With our feelings of inadequacy. With our doubts. With our troubles. God is waiting for us as we are. It is HIS strength that works in our weakness. It is HIS vision that will clear the path for us. It is HIS grace that will cleanse us.” (read the whole post here).

He said to me, “My grace is enough for you, because power is made perfect in weakness.” So I’ll gladly spend my time bragging about my weaknesses so that Christ’s power can rest on me. Therefore, I’m all right with weaknesses, insults, disasters, harassments, and stressful situations for the sake of Christ, because when I’m weak, then I’m strong. (2 Cor. 12: 9-10, CEB)

“The very same braking point that we hate and think of as the end of the story, is the starting point for something new and better. Sometimes we need to come to the end of our strength to be open for God’s propositions. Until we are ready to let our way go we are not ready for God’s way fully come. This is such a hard lesson to learn. And somehow I end to this point over and over again. No matter how fully I think I have already surrendered to Jesus. But this is the way to let God dwell in every aspect of our lives, also the new once that are coming along. So the pain is not always bad, it is a sign of growth. And as long as there is growth there is life!” (read the whole post here)

Rest assured, my friend, you are not alone. God is with you and working behind the scenes for you. You are loved. You are treasured. You are cared for. Good things on the way. God’s spiritual salve works time after time. Meanwhile, rest in God and let he take care of all your needs and bless you according to his amazing plan for you.

Gracious God,
I thank you for your love and care.
I thank you for restoring my soul,
filling me with your spirit.
Heal what needs to be healed,
Cleanse what needs to be cleansed,
Do what needs to be done.
May your amazing will be done
in and through my life.
In Jesus’ precious name,
Amen
