How to Embrace God

How to Embrace God

How to embrace GodAs a parent I am so happy that my children want to be hugged. They seek my embrace no matter how old they get. Their obvious delight when we embrace is a blessing to me.

Today, after receiving a warm hug from my daughter, I wondered whether our God loved our embraces as much as I did. What do you think? And, if ‘yes’, how could we embrace God?

Embracing God seems unattainable. But it isn’t. God is never far from us. Not even when we are disobedient. God is waiting for us to acknowledge him. God is loving us from afar when he can’t embrace us fully. God is waiting his arms wide open to welcome us to him.

There is a way to embrace God right here on earth. It is by immersing ourselves in God in prayer and/or in the Word of God. We need to get into God’s presence and stay there until we feel God’s loving embrace and his grace-filled presence.

There is no other way to be joyful in this crazy world.
There is no other way to stay faithful and focused on Christ.
There is no other way to love others like ourselves.

Thanks to Jesus, God’s arms are wide open for us all the time. We just need to go to God and be wrapped in his amazing grace. Try it. Because it works. It’s not about us. It’s about God’s bountiful love and grace.

God will create a new thing in this land:
A transformed woman will embrace the transforming God!
(Jeremiah 31:22, MSG)

You are loved. More than you can ever know. But even just experiencing a fraction of it, will keep you going strong for a long time. Just like a hug from a mom or a dad keeps a child happy for quite some time.

So. Don’t keep away from God’s embrace. You need it. And God is more than happy to embrace you as often as you need it.

Gracious God,
How good you are to me.
Thank you for always waiting for me
your arms wide open.
I so need you.
Embrace me,
wrap me in your grace.
Renew, restore, and then resend me.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Q4U: How often do you hug God?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you embrace God!

  1. Sometimes the hardest thing for me is actually feeling God’s embrace. I know He loves me and will never stop loving me, I trust Him, and I talk to Him frequently…yet sometimes, He still feels distant. I’m trying to figure that out. I love knowing that He’s with me the whole way, though. 🙂

    1. I hear you, Laura. That’s why I often pray that I could feel his presence. And I think it is a prayer that He loves to answer. Thanks so much for sharing. Stay blessed and may you feel His loving presence in your life!
