A Continual Conversation with God

A Continual Conversation with God

A continual conversation with GodThe funniest thing happened to me during my morning prayer. I got a vision of what a prayer should look like. And, let me tell you, it took me by surprise. It was a vision of a person wearing a bluetooth device having an ongoing dialogue with God. And I understood that our prayer life should be like that. Like a continual conversation with God.

God’s there, listening for all who pray,
for all who pray and mean it.
(Psalm 145:18, MSG)

Prayer is not just a few words between ‘Dear God’ and ‘Amen’. Prayer is a way of life. Prayer is a life in God’s presence. And there’s nothing better than that. With the words of Brother Lawrence “There is not in the world a kind of life more sweet and delightful, than that of a continual conversation with God; those only can comprehend it who practice and experience it.”

Rejoice always and delight in your faith; 17 be unceasing and persistent in prayer; 18 in every situation [no matter what the circumstances] be thankful and continually give thanks to God; for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, AMP)

We need to live our life with God. And that happens when we live our life in a continual conversation with God. He needs to be the first we talk about everything. There’s no such a thing that too small (or too big) thing to ask from God. The more we converse with God, the more we see how he works in our lives.

God wants us to abide in him, talk to him, listen to him. We are to have an intimate relationship with Jesus. And that only happens if we keep on having an ongoing, open-ended, continual conversation with God.

If an image of having a bluetooth conversation enables you to see how much God wants to hear from you, that’s great. Maybe an image of sitting on your sofa and talking about anything and everything with Jesus is more helpful. But the message is the same: God is not an abstract concept but a living Person interested in our lives. God is always there for us, we just need to keep the communication line open and invite God into our daily lives. There’s nothing more sweet and delightful on this side of heaven.

Dear God,
Thank you for being so interested in me.
Show me how I can have a continual conversation with you.
I want that, Lord.
I so want that.
I want to experience your presence in my life.
Guide me, Lord.
Be my everything.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Q4U: Are you in a continual conversation with the Lord? How do you do it?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you bask in God’s presence day by day!
