Being Part of God’s Family

Being Part of God’s Family

Being part of God's familyOne of the biggest blessings in life is to have a family of your own. Once upon a time I was a very happy single. The least favorite things of mine was coming home to a cold house after a weekend retreat or a conference trip. My way to handle it was to put some lights on and the thermostat on high and leave right away to do some grocery shopping. As I came home the second time it was again warm and inviting. Still not quite the same than having family members waiting for your return.

Even a bigger blessing is to be part of God’s family. Then it’s not just a question about every day life coziness but eternal blessings. Every human being is created by God and invited to be part of God’s family. But we only become sons and daughters of God by believing in Jesus.

So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith (Gal. 3:26, NIV,*).

It is quite amazing to be an adopted child and heir of God. What a privilege! Every person who has believed in Jesus in the past, how believes in him now, and who will believe in Jesus in the future are part of God’s big family. And that makes all of us siblings in Christ.

Our families usually give us warm and fuzzy feelings. That’s how we should feel about God’s family too. No matter what’s the denomination, nationality or color of skin of our brothers or sisters in Christ. But why isn’t loving your brothers and sisters always easy? Especially when God provides grace upon grace for all of us and there will always be enough grace to every one of us. There really isn’t time for sibling rivalries. It’s time to act like God’s beloved family members and live in love and unity in Christ Jesus.

Dear God,
Forgive us for being self-centered
and wanting to forget our spiritual siblings.
Pour out grace upon grace, Lord.
Fill us with your joy-filled Spirit.
Enable us to live in love and unity.
Thank you for all your blessings.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Q4U: What is your biggest joy of being part of God’s family?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you live and love like a member of God’s family!

  1. yes, sis, family…

LORD, U r building a home~U r using us all~irrespective of how we got here~in what U r building. U r fitting us in w/Christ Jesus as the the Cornerstone. Who holds all the parts 2gether. we see it taking shape day after day~a holy temple built by U, Father, all of us built in2 it, a temple in which U r quite @ home. in Oneness we live purposefully, worthily, making the very most of the time.

    hugs! sis, Crystal<3

  2. Our church family has been THE family my husband and I had to rely on when we moved so many times. They loved us, helped move furniture, cared for our babies. Our own families are wonderful, but lived states away at the time. We learned so much about generosity and faith in action…it definitely gives me warm fuzzies:) Great post today!

  3. I am so grateful that we can always find “family” no matter where we live or may travel. We are surely blessed to be included in God’s family!
