Is Jesus your life or does something else hold the central stage in your life? This question made me pause as I read Hannah Whitall Smith’s book The Christian’s Secret of a Happy Life. She writes “Most Christians understand the principle when it comes to salvation but lose sight of it in living Christian life. Then He was our Redeemer; now He is to be our Life”
We need and want salvation.
But how Christ can be our Life?
We need to remember that faith is a gift from God. It is not our doing. We are called to live in grace.
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. ( Ephesians 2:8-10, NIV,*)
We have been created by God Almighty.
We have been claimed by Christ.
But too often we forget that we have also been called by the Holy Spirit to go out in the world and share God’s love with others.
When we live out our faith, we let Christ become our Life.
When Christ is our Life, things start to happen.
Christ does not push us around and force us to do stuff. We need to invite him in our hearts and in our lives. Jesus is more than happy to do so but he will never be forceful. He respects us way too much. We need to keep on re-inviting him if we are serious about having Jesus to be our life.
What does it mean that God becomes our Life? It means that God becomes our everything, God gets the central stage of our life, and God gets to rule in our life. It’s the best thing that can happen to us because we will never be short-changed. God will bring spiritual gifts into our life and blesses us so we can bless others.
God does not only redeem us but he also wants to live our lives with us. When Jesus is send us to do good works, which He has already prepared in advance for us to do.
Is Jesus your life? Then you are truly blessed.
Thank you for your saving grace and abundant love.
Renew our faith.
Restore our spirit.
Fill us with you love.
Come and be our Life.
In Jesus’ name,
Q4U: Is Jesus your life?
Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you let Jesus to become your life!
