Beyond the Shadow of a Doubt

Beyond the Shadow of a Doubt

Beyond the shadow of a doubtDo you know or do you want to know beyond the shadow of a doubt that you have eternal life? The Bible is very clear on this. Especially this passage from the first letter of John spoke to me on the matter:

My purpose in writing is simply this: that you who believe in God’s Son will know beyond the shadow of a doubt that you have eternal life, the reality and not the illusion. And how bold and free we then become in his presence, freely asking according to his will, sure that he’s listening. And if we’re confident that he’s listening, we know that what we’ve asked for is as good as ours. (1 John 5:13-15, MSG)

Wow. I like that for four reasons:

  1. All you who believe in Jesus have eternal life. It’s a fact, not an illusion. As believers in God’s son we can believe beyond the shadow of a doubt that we have eternal life. This is most certainly true.
  2. Hence we become bold and free in God’s presence. We don’t need to be something we are not. We can stop pretending. We can be who we are and know that God loves us anyway.
  3. We can pray freely and count on God to always listen. What a wonderful Father we have. He is listening. He wants to know what’s on our hearts and minds. We and our well-being matter to him.
  4. If we ask anything according to God’s will we can be certain God will answer. God will not ignore us. He will bless us according to his will. Nothing more, nothing less, nothing else. We can rest in his grace no matter what.

Isn’t God amazing? God gives all who believe in his son eternal life. We can trust this knowledge beyond the shadow a doubt. It is also a huge blessing to know I can just be me yet be certain that I am loved anyway.

Peace I leave with you; My[perfect] peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid. [Let My perfect peace calm you in every circumstance and give you courage and strength for every challenge.] (John 14:27, AMP)

So whether you’re feeling great or a bit under the weather today, God has for you what you need. Just turn to him and let him decide what, when, how. He knows what’s best for you. You can just relax and be bold and free in his presence. How wonderful is that? I take it. How about you?

Gracious God,
Thank you for being so wonderful.
Always listening,
always caring,
always assuring.
Fill me with your grace and peace.
Be everything I need.
May your will be done
in me, through me, for me.
Make me what you want me to be.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Q4U: Do you have doubts/Do you know beyond the shadow of a doubt that you have eternal life?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you embrace God and his grace with everything you’ve got!
