Is sharing part of your life? Or is it something you put off for later? Or do you think sharing is overrated? If you’re a Christian, sharing is not optional. We are called to share what we’ve received with others. Whether it is the Good News of Jesus Christ or our time or some resources we have. Sharing is caring. And that’s a distinctive feature of Christian living.

If you’ve gotten anything at all out of following Christ, if his love has made any difference in your life, if being in a community of the Spirit means anything to you, if you have a heart, if you care— then do me a favor: Agree with each other, love each other, be deep-spirited friends. Don’t push your way to the front; don’t sweet-talk your way to the top. Put yourself aside, and help others get ahead. Don’t be obsessed with getting your own advantage. Forget yourselves long enough to lend a helping hand. (Phil. 2:1-4, MSG,*)

Sharing really is not optional. It is to be our way of life. We need to forget the world’s selfish ways and reach out to others. Sharing does not only bless those who are on the receiving end. Sharing blesses the giver too. All that we have is God’s gift anyway.

We don’t need to be rich to give. We can give our time, our wisdom, our compassion. Especially we are called to share how the goodness of God has touched our own lives. Because that might change someone’s life. Sharing is caring indeed.

 

Gracious God,
Thank you for reminding us that sharing is caring
and that it’s not optional for your children.
Don’t let us forget your goodness.
Don’t let us become selfish hoarders.
Save us from becoming stingy, enlarge our hearts instead.
Make us compassionate and loving like you.
Empower us to share all you’ve given us,
especially the Good News of Jesus Christ your son.
In Jesus’ name,
