Christ Is the Source of Strength

Christ Is the Source of Strength

Christ is the source of strengthDo you think God’s promises are unrealistic? That it’s impossible to think you could ever overcome anything just because of Jesus? I have news for you. The name of Jesus is more powerful than anything in this world. How do I know this? The Bible tells me so many times over and I’ve experienced it in my life myself. Christ is the source of strength for anyone who wants to be his.

Every God-begotten person conquers the world’s ways. The conquering power that brings the world to its knees is our faith. The person who wins out over the world’s ways is simply the one who believes Jesus is the Son of God. (1 John 5:4-5, MSG)

Our faith in Jesus is the conquering power. Because when we abide in Jesus, we are whatever he is. We are crucified in him. But we are also resurrected in him. And that, my friend, is what changes everything. When we are in Christ, we are free from the power of sin. We are freed to live the way God wants us to live. And Christ is the source of our strength for anything and everything.

That means you must not give sin a vote in the way you conduct your lives. Don’t give it the time of day. Don’t even run little errands that are connected with that old way of life. Throw yourselves wholeheartedly and full-time—remember, you’ve been raised from the dead!—into God’s way of doing things. Sin can’t tell you how to live. After all, you’re not living under that old tyranny any longer. You’re living in the freedom of God. (Romans 6:12-14, MSG, emphasis added)

If you want to learn to overcome temptations, read this blog post. Because overcoming is not about growing your moral muscle. Christian living is about leaning on Christ. It is about living out our faith in Christ. It is about abiding in Christ and letting the Holy Spirit empower us for victorious living. We are what Jesus is. Christ is the source of strength, joy and all the good things in our life now and forever.

Gracious God,
You are more than we can imagine.
You indeed are all the good things in our lives.
Thank you for conquering sin and death for us.
Thank you for the gift of faith.
Thank you we can be anything Jesus is.
Be our source of strength.
Be our everything.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen
