All children of God are all called to grow into spiritual maturity. We are called to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ. We are called to grow up in Christ. How is your spiritual growing up process going?
“In a word, what I’m saying is, Grow up. You’re kingdom subjects. Now live like it. Live out your God-created identity. Live generously and graciously toward others, the way God lives toward you.” (Matthew 5:48, MSG,*)
The key ingredient in the process is the Holy Spirit. When we abide in Jesus, the Holy Spirit works in us, making us -slowly but surely- to grow up in Christ. The more we spend time with Jesus, the more we mature spiritually.
It’s good to acknowledge that, just as any growth, also spiritual growth takes time. It does not happen over the night. God knows this, I hope you know it too. The slowness of the process is not a reason to give up. Quite the opposite, actually.
It’s time to press on, it’s time to actively integrate godly values into your daily life. And, most of all, it is time to spend lots of time with Jesus. Because, even though we still are imperfect and immature, we can already experience God’s abundance in God’s presence. And the more we linger in God’s presence, the more we grow up in Christ. And all this by God’s grace.
Thanks for loving me as I am.
Thank you also for calling me to grow up in Christ.
Show me personally how to live out my faith.
Draw me to spend lots of time with you.
Bless me according to your plan for me.
To you I give all the glory now and forever.
In Jesus’ name,
Q4U: How is your growing up in Christ process going?
Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you linger in God’s presence and grow up in Christ.
