Nothing Left for You to Worry About

Nothing Left for You to Worry About

Nothing Left for You to Worry aboutThere is one verse in the Bible that erases worries powerfully. It is not probably what you think. But it is powerful nonetheless. It reminds us who is in control and whose we are. And if we do remember that, there’s no reason to worry, right?

Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be.
(Psalm 139:16, NIV, emphasis added)

The whole psalm139 is a powerful expression of how intimately God knows us being our Creator. But the verse 16 is especially meaningful because it tells us God has ordained all of our days. Before we were born God knew how many days, years or decades we are going to live.

Why is this so powerful?

Because no one dies an hour before their time. We might think someone died “before their time”. But no. It was their ordained time to die.

Why is this so liberating?

Because no one dies an hour before their time. We are free to live boldly. We are free to follow Christ with reckless abandon. God is in control. He knows what he is doing.

Also, God has sweet plans each one of us who are breathing today. There’s a reason why you are alive. You are special. You are called to partner with God today. How exciting is that?

So rest in God today and all of your days. Revel in the knowledge that you’re not an accident. You are a special child of God meant to live right here and right now. Do ask God what he has planned for you. There’s nothing better than doing God’s will, being at the right place at the right time. God has prepared everything for you in advance.

So don’t waste your time fretting or worrying or being afraid. Instead, embrace God and his wild grace. And see where God is leading you today. See what kind of wonderful things God has prepared for you to do.

It’s time to leave your fears behind…or better yet…leave them at the foot of the cross. Jesus has carried all of your worries, troubles on the cross too. There’s nothing left for you to worry about. It’s finished. It’s all planned out. Now it’s time to enjoy God and what he is doing in the world, in you, and through you.

Gracious God,
You are truly amazing.
You’ve planned everything.
Thank you that I don’t have to fret or worry.
Thank you for freeing me to enjoy life.
Guide me clearly, Lord.
Enable me to follow you with reckless abandon.
Be praised forever and ever.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Q4U: Are you ready to leave your worries at the foot of the cross?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you embrace freedom in Christ and follow him with reckless abandon!

  2. Thank you for the reminder! Those of us who like to control things need reminders like this–God has ordained our number of days. It’s also a reminder to be listening and serving so that we don’t miss out on any opportunities!
