Have Confidence in Christ

Have Confidence in Christ

Have Confidence in ChristWhere do you put your trust? Yourself? Your job? Your bank account? Your country? Sorry to say but those are not worthy of your trust. Don’t put your confidence in things that aren’t eternal. Put your confidence in something that can’t be taken away.

It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.
It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in princes.
(Psalm 118:8-9, KJV)

Nothing can keep you safe but God. Nothing can give you life but God. Nothing but Jesus can give you freedom. Nothing but the Holy Spirit can revive you. Hence don’t put your trust in earthly things. They can be taken away in an instant. Have your confidence in God Almighty and you will be safe and cared for now and forever.

Let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace (the throne of God’s unmerited favor to us sinners), that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find grace to help in good time for every need [appropriate help and well-timed help, coming just when we need it]. (Hebrews 4:16, AMP)

How should we then live? How do we have confidence in Christ? By stopping to think money or a house or a job (or anything but Christ) could help us when we need it most. By stopping to hoard treasure down here like stuff could keep us safe or make us happy.

With the words of Jesus: “Don’t hoard treasure down here where it gets eaten by moths and corroded by rust or—worse!—stolen by burglars. Stockpile treasure in heaven, where it’s safe from moth and rust and burglars. It’s obvious, isn’t it? The place where your treasure is, is the place you will most want to be, and end up being.” (Matthew 6:19-21, MSG)

When we have confidence in Christ, we put our faith in practice and trust God to do what he says. When we are truly free in Christ, we become bold in our everyday life. When we follow Christ, we give more than we take. Yet we become more joyful all the time. It’s called living in grace. Try it out. And you will never look back at your old way of living.

Gracious God,
Thanks for reminding us that nothing but you is everlasting.
Thanks for giving us grace according to all our needs.
Thank you for being everything we ever will need.
Enable us to have confidence in only you.
Make us bold to follow you no matter where you lead us.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

  1. Such a beautiful, uplifting post! Our confidence should be in Christ alone. Nothing on earth can compare to Him. Blessings to you! I’m your neighbor at #InspireMeMonday.

  2. “Nothing can keep you safe but God.” Amen, Mari-Anna! It’s so easy to put our trust in things we can see and touch, but those things will all disappear and are not all-powerful like our true Lord! Have a blessed week, friend.

    1. It is very simple really. But why do we so often get tangled with idols any way? Without even noticing it? The serpent is actively trying to either scare us or seduce us. Lord, have mercy. Thanks so much, Lisa, for stopping by and leaving encouragement. Blessings to you, friend!
