Help Is Near

Help Is Near

Help is nearAre you in need of help? But are you too embarrassed or too proud to ask for help? Or do you think no one can ever understand what you’re going through so why bother? I hear you. Being vulnerable and weak is not fun. But denying our need for help does no good for anyone. That way we don’t get the help we’d need but we also deny others the blessing to help us. And we’d all miss God’s hand in our lives.

They were all filled with awe and praised God. “A great prophet has appeared among us,” they said. “God has come to help his people.” (Luke 7:16, NIV,*)

Because Jesus really came to help us. And he is still mightily able to do so. Because he is not a stranger to suffering or any kind of pain.

Because He Himself [in His humanity] has suffered in being tempted, He is able to help and provide immediate assistance to those who are being tempted and exposed to suffering. (Hebrews 2:18, AMP)

In Jesus God came in the flesh, God is not distant. Jesus came to help us. And he still come to us and asks what he can do for us. Why don’t we embrace him and his lovingkindness with open arms? Let’s not be too proud or too embarrassed to admit we can’t make it on our own. Because we are not even meant to do it solo. Help is near because God is near.

We are called to live with God. We are human beings and we are called to live with our Maker, to interact with Jesus in daily basis and to receive help as needed. That’s what living in grace means. Jesus came to help us. Let’s rest in that knowledge, in that ultimate love.

Help is near. Just a whisper away.

Gracious God,
We need you, help us!
Be everything we need right now.
Thank you for loving us so much
that you provide everything we need.
Thank you for Jesus
who suffered and experiences everything
so he could understand and help us in every way.
Thank you for wanting to live with us,
sharing your love and grace.
We love you so.
Be praised forever more.
In Jesus’ precious name,
Amen

Q4U: How God helped you?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you dare to be vulnerable and ask for help from God!

  1. Love this! Yes. He is the best helper. I’ve been so blessed by accepting others’ help lately- especially the Lord’s. But so much joy comes in this, though humbling. Thanks for the gentle reminder and joyful truth-telling!

    1. It is a blessing to have clear guidance. It’s not always what we’d like at that point…but at the end it brings blessings in abundance. So, thankfully there is no mute button! Thanks, Andrew, for sharing. Have a blessed weekend!

  2. “Help is near because God is near.” Oh to be continually aware of this truth. Good, good words of encouragement.
How does God help me? He encourages me and speaks truth to my heart. Even in your post, I am reminded of His presence. His closeness. Right now, I am helped. Thank you.
