Revolution of Grace

Revolution of Grace

Revolution of GraceHave you been wondering what to do with all the hate going around? Hurt people hurt people. It seems like there is more and more toxic waste going around. Is there anything we can do about it? Or should we just give in? Absolutely not! We have the way to make a huge difference in the world. Even start a revolution of grace?

Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing. (1 Peter 3:9, NIV)

How earth can we do that? How can we keep from repaying evil with evil? How can we bless the world when it’s so hate-filled and the atmosphere is getting so toxic? It’s true, we can’t do it on our own. We need help but help is near because God is near. And more than willing to help us.

Here are two simple steps to start a revolution of grace:

  1. Grounding the Bad
  2. Passing on the Good

This really is revolutionary. Just imagine if every Christian would be practising this? Talk about the revolution of grace!

As said before, hurt people hurt people. In order to stop the cycle of hurting, we need to ground the bad and pass on the good instead. So every time people are dumping some toxic waste on you, redirect it to the cross. Every time someone is spreading evil, ground it in grace. Be part of the revolution of grace.

Jesus already carried all the harmful things on the cross, we don’t need to do so. We don’t need to repay insult with insult because we can ground them in Jesus. We are welcome to give all the hateful things to Jesus and receive peace upon peace. We are blessed indeed. Why wouldn’t we use this method to deal with the bad things in life? Hurt people hurt people. But we can be healed by grace.

Once we are healed by grace, filled with the Holy Spirit, we can do even more than just grounding the evil. We can also pass on God’s grace. We will never run out of God’s grace, there’s always more. So we don’t need to store grace or try to keep it to ourselves. There’s plenty for everyone.

Grace changes people. Grace changes the world. And we are called to be change-agents, grace-agents. If we ground all the bad in the cross and pass on the grace we freely receive from Jesus, the world is changing by grace. The kingdom of God is coming near. The revolution of grace is making way for peace.

Gracious God,
Forgive us focusing on the wrong things.
Forgive us for forgetting the power of your grace.
Forgive us for responding with fear
when your love and grace is available for us.
Empower us, Lord!
May we be filled to overflowing with hope.
Teach us how to ground the evil in the cross
and pass on your gracious love.
Enable us to be your grace-agents.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Q4U: Do you know how to stop the cycle of hurting? How has it worked for you?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you become part of the revolution of grace!
