Invitation to Listen

Invitation to Listen

Invitation to ListenHow do you communicate with God? Most often people say “through prayer”. And that’s great. Just don’t forget prayer is a two-way conversation. Prayer is not just about you telling God what’s wrong with your life. Prayer is also about listening to God. Yes, God still speaks today. God wants to communicate with you directly. God’s invitation to listen is real.

God’s invitation to listen is for you

Yes, you’re invited. God wants to interact with you. Not just once in awhile but all the time. God invites you to have a continual conversation with him.

This is God’s Message, the God who made earth, made it livable and lasting, known everywhere as God: ‘Call to me and I will answer you. I’ll tell you marvelous and wondrous things that you could never figure out on your own.’ (Jeremiah 33:3, MSG,*)

God invites you to call to him and he has promised to answer you, guide you, walk with you. Why then do we not do it more often? Why do we forfeit it? You know, it is a great privilege to communicate with God Almighty. It’s for our own benefit.

God’s promised to talk to you

We all have a standing invitation to listen what God has on his heart, what God has planned for you. We don’t have to manage our lives on our own. God wants to help. The first step is to take up on God’s invitation to listen. He has promised to talk to you.

Your own ears will hear him.
Right behind you a voice will say,
“This is the way you should go,”
whether to the right or to the left.
(Isaiah 30:21, NLT,*)

Listening, interacting, conversing are ways to grow in an intimate relationship with God. That’s when we grow in faith, when we learn to trust God, when we embrace all that God has for us. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is heaven on earth.

Gracious God,
How can that be?
That you love us and want to talk to us?
Thank you for your invitation to listen.
Help us to remember that you want to talk to us.
Show us how to live in a continual conversation with you.
Become our everything, Lord.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Q4U: Do you listen to God? How does he talk to you?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you take up God’s invitation to listen what he has to say to you!

* [As you might have noticed, I enjoy reading the Bible in different translations and love comparing them. I have started linking the Bible verses toBiblegateway.com so you can easily read (and compare) them in the different versions I’ve used while preparing each post.].

  1. You are so right! We all have a standing invitation to meet with God and listen to what He has to whisper in our heart. I too love to compare different translations of scripture, and especially enjoy using my Hebrew/Greek Key Word Study Bible. There’s so many layers to Scripture, and it’s fun digging in and finding something new each time.
