Christian Angels

Christian Angels

Christian angelsWhat do you think of angels? Do you believe in them? Or have you dismissed them as New age-y type of thing? It’s true that not all angel-talk is Christian. But I think we should not throw the baby out with the bathwater. Angels are mentioned both in the old and the new testament hundreds of times. We can’t ignore them. What should Christians then think of angels?

Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation? (Hebrews 1:14, NIV)

Angels are God’s gifts to us.

They are ministering spirits serving us on our faith journey. They help us to make home to God. We can’t see God but we are served by ministering spirits sent by God. They guide us, direct us and serve us in any other way necessary to keep us on the way to heaven.

Francis de Sales urges us “Make friends with the angels, who though invisible are always with you. Often invoke them, constantly praise them, and make good use of their help and assistance in all your temporal and spiritual affairs.”

We are never alone.

We are loved and cherished by God. We are indeed blessed children of God. Do don’t dismiss angels. Don’t ignore them. Be thankful for them as part of God’s great plan for your salvation. Be glad for ministering spirits around you and revel in God’s care.

Gracious God,
We thank you for your perfect plan for our salvation.
We thank you for creating and sending angels to serve us.
Enable us to embrace your way of doing things.
Send us joy to live in your love and grace.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Q4U: Do you believe in ministering spirits?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you embrace the messengers God has sent to serve you on your way Home!

  1. Hmmm . . . I think I must believe in angels, though I don’t think of them very often. Thanks for the reminder to keep my eyes open!
