Releasing Control to God

Releasing Control to God

Releasing control to GodThis world seems to think being in control is the best thing ever or, at least, something everyone should strive to have. But I dare to disagree. Being in control is not my goal, releasing control to God is. Some of you now think I am a lunatic. I understand. If you have not found God to be a loving and caring parent, you most likely don’t want to have anything to do with him. Then also releasing control to God is the last thing you want to do. But my experience has lead me to trust God with my everything.

Why releasing control to God is the best thing ever

But I’ve learned that God is not only loving and caring but also wise and dependable. He doesn’t only know what’s best for me but he also prays and works for me behind the scenes. When God is in control of my life, I am at peace. Also, whenever I’ve tried to be in control of my life, I’ve messed up pretty bad. So I’ve learned that releasing control to God actually is a blessing. When God is in control of my life, I don’t have to stress about things, instead I can enjoy living the life he has planned for me.

Cast your burden on the Lord [release it] and He will sustain and uphold you;
He will never allow the righteous to be shaken (slip, fall, fail).
(Ps. 55:22, ALT,*)

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you (1 Peter 5:7, NIV).

God has promised to take care of us

The Bible is adamant about this: God takes care of his children. We are not to be anxious but trust him in every situation. We are to give our worries and burdens to God and expect him to reveal his will and his way. All the promises of the Bible are meant for each Christian. They are still valid right here and right now. Claim them as yours. Learn to trust God. Then you will grow to love releasing control to God. Because being a child of God is a joyous thing. We are to enjoy life with out Father. He will take care of us, he will love us, he will guide us. Day by day, step by step.

Gracious God,
Show each of us how to release control to you.
Help us to trust and let go.
Show us how to enjoy life with you.
Thank you for caring and providing for us
every day of our lives.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

  1. Definitely a weakness of mine! I like to stay in the driver’s seat myself, but am learning that it is far wiser to trust an all-knowing God with setting the direction for my days.
