You Are Fashioned for Faith

Fashioned for FaithDid you know that you are fashioned for faith and not for fear? Sometimes we tend to think faith takes more out of you that worry or misery. Other times you hear people saying it’s not natural to have faith. How come? God created us to interact with him. His people are fashioned for faith, not for fear. That’s why I was thrilled to find this quote by E. Stanley Jones. It reflects beautifully the purposes of God.

You are fashioned for faith

I am inwardly fashioned for faith, not for fear. Fear is not my native land; faith is. I am so made that worry and anxiety are sand in the machinery of life; faith is the oil. I live better by faith and confidence than by fear, doubt, and anxiety. In anxiety and worry, my being is gasping for breath – these are not my native air. But in faith and confidence, I breath freely – these are my native air. A Johns Hopkins University doctor says, “We do not know why it is that worriers die sooner than the non-worriers, but that is a fact.” But I, who am simple of mind, think I know. We are inwardly constructed in nerve and tissue, for faith and not for fear. God made us that way. To live by worry is to live against reality.

Faith is our native land

God created his people to live in faith, not in fear. When we insist on worrying, we feel worse and worse. But when we dare to believe, we feel better and better. Faith is our native land. When we live by faith, with God, all is well. We need to guard out thoughts and feelings. The enemy tries to steal our joy. But we don’t have to give in. Instead we can pray and ask for more faith.

Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life. (Phil. 4:6-7, MSG)

Worry destroys, faith blesses you

It is indeed wonderful that happens when we don’t worship worry but Jesus. Worrying does not ever change anything. It only creates problems and steals our joy and peace of mind. But when we truly trust God and put our faith in action, we realise God has been working behind the scenes for us. Faith is the oil for the machinery of life. Let’s put it in good use!

Gracious Father,
Thank you for fashioning your people for faith.
I want to stop worrying, Lord.
Pour out faith upon faith and grace upon grace.
Empower me, Lord, to be everything you created me to be.
I want to put my faith only in you and
I want to live by faith, not by fear.
In Jesus’ powerful name,
Amen

Q4U: Do you believe that you’re fashioned for faith? How does it change your view on life?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you put your trust in the Lord and kick the worries out of your mind!

  1. I love this, Mari-Anna. “Faith is our native land.” Sometimes I feel like “fear” is my mother-tongue, but it’s not. Faith is! Blessings to you in this new year.

  2. Such an encouraging post, Mari-Anna. As I have thought about this … we are surely fashioned for faith as we have been created in His image and are indwelt by His Spirit. Such a powerful truth!
