Give Me the Spirit of the Lord

Give Me the Spirit of the Lord

Give me the Spirit of the LordCurrently, I am reading through the book of Isaiah. I’m in awe of all the prophecies of the Messiah and how perfectly they came to be in Jesus. Today, I was reading about how a shoot will grow up from Jesse’s stump. Especially, the second verse describing the Spirit of the Lord resting on Jesus, took my breath away. I want that too. Give me the Spirit of the Lord – all of it!

And the Spirit of the Lord will rest on Him— The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and strength, The Spirit of knowledge and of the [reverential and obedient] fear of the Lord. (Isaiah 11:2, AMP)

Give me the Spirit of the Lord!

We are called to be Christ-like. Hence we can plea “give me the Spirit of the Lord too”. The Spirit of the Lord is not reserved only for Jesus. It is meant for all the children of God. God wants to bless us with his spiritual gifts. And when the Spirit of the Lord will rest on us, we will know what happiness is.

Every morning I will ask God to give me the Spirit of the Lord – all of it: the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and strength, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord. All the things I naturally lack. But the things I need to become what God wants me to be. The things that will make all the difference in my life. And the things God is more than happy to give me. Yes! Give me the Spirit of the Lord!

Gracious God,
Thank you for the prophecies of the Messiah
and thank you fulfilling them all in Jesus.
Make me more Christ-like and
give me the Spirit of the Lord!
Also, may your will happen in/through my life.
In Jesus’ precious name,
Amen

Q4U: Do you want to have the Spirit of the Lord – all of it?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you embrace what God is doing in your life!
