Rolled Away for You

Rolled Away for You

rolled away for youThe resurrection story never gets old: it holds the miracle of salvation. I love hearing it again and again, according to Matthew, Mark, Luke, John and all them in different translations. Because there is always something to catch my attention anew, always something to stir in my heart. This time I realized the stone was rolled away for you and me. Not for Jesus. He did not need it to be rolled away, he had already risen. The stone for rolled away for you and me.

After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to look at the tomb.Look, there was a great earthquake, for an angel from the Lord came down from heaven. Coming to the stone, he rolled it away and sat on it.Now his face was like lightning and his clothes as white as snow. The guards were so terrified of him that they shook with fear and became like dead men.

But the angel said to the women, “Don’t be afraid. I know that you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. He isn’t here, because he’s been raised from the dead, just as he said. Come, see the place where they laid him. Now hurry, go and tell his disciples, ‘He’s been raised from the dead. He’s going on ahead of you to Galilee. You will see him there.’ I’ve given the message to you.” With great fear and excitement, they hurried away from the tomb and ran to tell his disciples. (Matthew 28:1-8, CEB, emphasis added)

Rolled away for you

Why is it so important that the stone was rolled away for you and me? Because otherwise, we could not have gotten in. Otherwise, we would not have been invited into the joy of resurrection. We would have been left out. Because the stone was rolled away for you and me, we now have an access to God. Because the body of Christ was given for you and me, we are free to approach God. All was done you and me in mind. So that we could be made right with God. That we could get in what God is doing. And that’s better than anything.

Did you know the invitation is valid also today? See, all is done, everything is prepared. The door is wide open for all who wants to come. How about you? Do you want to get in?

Gracious God,
Thank you for preparing everything for us in your mind and
offering all a standing invitation into your presence.
We want to take you up on your offer.
Lord, we want to be yours.
In Jesus’ precious name,
Amen

Q4U: See, it was all done you in mind. How does it make you feel?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you say “yes” to God’s invitation to step into His arms!
