When things go south who or what does support you? Having a support system is one of those things in life that make a huge difference. There are times when we need support. When we are down or weary, we need someone to lift us up. Who does support you? What kind of support system do you have? Does it work?
Human support systems fail
My experience is that any human support system – no matter how good and dedicated it is, no matter how special and needed it is – fails one time or another. The only support system that I have found that doesn’t fail, is the Lord. Human beings just can’t be there all the time. Other people just can’t know your deepest needs like your maker does. Humans are humans, God is God.
Unless the Lord had helped me,
I would soon have settled in the silence of the grave.
18 I cried out, “I am slipping!”
but your unfailing love, O Lord, supported me.
19 When doubts filled my mind,
your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer.
The divine support system does not fail
The blessed thing about having God as your support system is that it does not fail. Ever. God is with us through thick and thin. He is not afraid of sadness or sickness. He will never leave us or forsake us, he lifts us up and supports us whenever we need it. The divine support system does not fail. We can count on that. What a confidence boost, right? We can always count on God for being there for us. Talk about hope and cheer.
You are so good to us.
Thank you for being our constant support.
Help us to see your love at work in our lives.
Thank you for blessing us with friends and family,
bless each and every one of them.
But thank you that your support is even better.
You’ve promised that nothing will ever separate
you children from your love,
Help us to base our lives on that promise.
Thank you for always being there for us.
We love you, Papa!
In Jesus’ precious name,
Q4U: Do you have a good support system? Is it divine?
Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you embrace God and base your life on his love!
