Dare to Be Great for God

Dare to Be Great for God

Dare to be great for God - flowingfaith.comIsn’t it interesting how we can talk ourselves down from trying to achieve great things for God? How is it possible that we settle for less than God’s plan for us? It’s especially crazy if we think we’re doing God’s will by laying low. Folks, we have work to do. Let’s not believe what our enemy is whispering. God is calling our names, we have things to do and places to go. Be all you were created to be. Dare to be great for God.

With the words of C.S. Lewis ‘We may be content to remain what we call ‘ordinary people’: but He is determined to carry out a quite different plan. To shrink back from that plan is not humility: it is laziness and cowardice. To submit is not conceit or megalomania; it is obedience.’

If you [really] love Me, you will keep and obey My commandments. (John 14:15, AMP)

Dare to be great for God

God is calling you to be all he created you to be. And it is much more than you can imagine. Don’t lay low and be ordinary. Discover all God has planned for you to do and become extraordinary in the process. Dare to be great for God.

If you have a hard time imagining what you could be, this quote from C.S. Lewis might help. “Imagine yourself as a living house. God comes in to rebuild that house. At first, perhaps, you can understand what He is doing. He is getting the drains right and stopping the leaks in the roof and so on: you knew that those jobs needed doing and so you are not surprised. But presently He starts knocking the house about in a way that hurts abominably and does not seem to make sense. What on earth is He up to? The explanation is that He is building quite a different house from the one you thought of—throwing out a new wing here, putting on an extra floor there, running up towers, making courtyards. You thought you were going to be made into a decent little cottage: but He is building a palace. He intends to come and live in it Himself.”

Receive God’s gifts

God has amazing things in store for you. He loves you more than you can ever understand. But you don’t need to figure out God to receive his gifts.  Just know that he loves you and wants you to be all he created you to be. Hence, dare to be great for him. It’s not megalomania; it’s obedience. Shrinking back is not humility; it’s laziness and cowardice. It’s time to step up and dare to be great for God.

Gracious God,
Forgive us for shrinking back and thinking we are humble.
Enable us to receive all you have for us.
Empower us to become all you created us to be.
We want to dare to be great for you, Lord.
Make it so.
Let the Holy Spirit move in and through us
so all can see you are great.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen
