Near to God

Near to God

Draw near to God - flowingfaith.comOne of the blessings Jesus gave us was the direct access to God. Because of Jesus’ sacrifice, we can be made right with God. Hence, we are welcome to draw near to God. Our sins have been and will be forgiven so we can boldly approach God. There’s nothing that can ever separate us from God but us. If we do not draw near to God, we will miss out all the good things. We can choose to stay away but because of Jesus nothing or nobody can keep us away.

Therefore let us [with privilege] approach the throne of grace [that is, the throne of God’s gracious favor] with confidence and without fear, so that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find [His amazing] grace to help in time of need [an appropriate blessing, coming just at the right moment]. (Hebr. 4:16, AMP,*)

Draw near to God

There’s nothing better in my book than being near to God. It’s our privilege as his children and what a glorious privilege it is. When we draw near to God, we are blessed. In God’s presence, we can enjoy who he is: love, joy, and peace everlasting.

Drawing near to God is what we are all called to do. God wants to fellowship with us, he wants us to enjoy his company. This is Christian living. If we do not want to spend time with Jesus, we need to ask ourselves whether we are Christians or not. The Bible urges us to draw near to God over and over again.

We are not saved to do as we please but we are saved to be able to do what God wants us to do: to draw near to God, to spend time with him, to share everything with him. And when we are filled with his grace, we are sent to go out and love others as he has first shown us how.

It’s your choice

Ultimately, it’s your choice because Christ opened the way to God. Now it’s your choice to draw near to God or keep away. I strongly urge you to draw near to God. Because God is everything you could ever want or need. You see, he is the giver of life and love. It’s all yours if we want it. I do. How about you?

Gracious God,
Forgive us for forgetting life is not about us.
Thank you for sending Jesus to clear the way back to you.
Draw us near to you.
Show us how sweet it is to live with you.
Bless us, Lord. Bless us with your presence.
In Jesus’ precious name,
Amen

Q4U: Do you choose to draw near to God?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you draw near to God daily!

* [As you might have noticed, I enjoy reading the Bible in different translations and love comparing them. I have started linking the Bible verses toBiblegateway.com so you can easily read (and compare) them in the different versions I’ve used while preparing each post.].

  1. How comforting it is to know that, no matter how far away the Father seems to be at times, that as we draw near to Him, He, in turn, draws nearer to us. He’s only as far away as we keep Him. A lovely post! Have a blessed Advent season! <3

    1. God is more than everything. Wow. What a statement coming from you, Andrew. Isn’t it wonderful to know that when your body is failing, you’re gaining. Better things ahead. Thank you for your testimony. May God’s presence surround you with his grace and peace!
